Poor Academics Result from Poor Sleep

This may sound like a broken record but again poor observance of the required number of hours of sleep will lead toward deteriorating health bodies as well as poor grades for students who fail to achieve the standard 8 to 10 hours of sleep everyday.
This even usually stems from the fact that some students forego the essence of sleeping, feeling they have enough to spare. While they may be up and about, abusing the needed rest of the human mind may not be all that comforting. The academic performance will show and attest to this once students fail to address the situation, largely due to their self-belief that they want to exhaust their time being awake to the max.

How To Deal with Sleep Terrors
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung September 3rd, 2007 in How to sleep better, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues.
Terrors can be synonymous with nightmares a person encounters when he is sleeping. However in reality, they are two different things although nightmares can be a part of sleep terrors.
Sleepnet.com describes sleep terror as:
Sleep Terrors are characterized by a sudden arousal from slow wave sleep with a piercing scream or cry, accompanied by autonomic (Controlled by the part of the nervous system that regulates motor functions of the heart, lungs, etc.) and behavioral manifestations of intense fear. Also known as Pavor Nocturnus, incubus, severe autonomic discharge, night terror.
Kind creepy isn’t it? But the thing is such happenings that go on in our sleep which we often term as dreams may eventually come to a climax wherein people may not be able to find ways to contain them.
Sleep terrors are not considered that harmful and the only resort that may be made available for patients suffering from it is that of consulting a sleep specialist.

Mariah Maintains Voice by Sleeping in Sauna
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung September 2nd, 2007 in SLEEP Celebrity, SLEEP News, Sleep Cures, Sleep Therapy.
Being a singer has its hard times of upkeep and for pop star Mariah Carey, sleeping in a sauna may perhaps boost her melodic voice for the better. The throat of singers are often the most hampered part of a singer’s talent and through the help of steam in saunas, soothing and helping relax the throat of most singers will surely help them maintain and keep their level of singing to a manageable level.
This was not of course implemented by Carey alone. The advice came from the late pop singer Luther Vandross. But of course, sleeping does not mean she stays there overnight. Once temperatures reach warmer levels, she transfers to her normal bed.
The singer was advised by her friend, the late singer Luther Vandross, to adopt the bizarre night-time routine, because steam relaxes the vocal chords.
She said: “It’s for my throat. Sleeping in there will make my voice better because of the steam. Luther Vandross was actually the one who told me about the humidity being helpful for the voice.”
However, Mariah moves to her normal bed when the searing sauna temperatures get too much.
