Why you should Sleep with the Lights Off
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung November 16th, 2007 in How to sleep better, SLEEP Gadgets, Sleep Issues.
There are people who are afraid of the dark. Many of us restrict them to the kids today, seemingly afraid of fabled stories that include monsters being around once the lights are out. Of course, we all know that this is a sleep myth to get them to go to bed without any complaints.
However, lights provide a hindrance for people who want to sleep better. The rays and the lights that we usually have to deal with once our eyes are shut are distractions. Now for some people who need light to be able to see things when they have to get up at times, a nightlight will often be around and available.
Sleeping better can be done with the lights off. Dim or dark as much as possible is the best way to get a good night’s sleep. For people who need light at night, well, make it as low as possible. You just cannot deal with a small glimpse of light that may eventually become a distraction and a cause for you not to sleep properly.

Going the Distance without Sleep
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung November 15th, 2007 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues, Sleep Myths.
While we are all concerned about how long we can go without sleep, perhaps it would be best to look at it the other way. How long can you go without sleep? No this is not a challenge but it is something to which we can all share the reality that people who forego sleep cannot go very far.
Our bodies need to rest some time and this is when we have to sleep even for a short period of time. There is no such thing as a sleep-less person. It would be entirely crazy. Also, why would a person not want to sleep?
Unless you are aiming for a record, then perhaps it would be something for a purpose. But in reality, not sleeping is something we cannot survive for long. With that said, how long do you think you can stay awake?

Helping Moms to Put Babies To Sleep The Right Way
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung November 14th, 2007 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Cures, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Education.
Not all moms are taught on how to be able to handle new babies, especially the first timers. One of the main problems is caring for their child and the proper way to lull them to sleep. While such is a responsibility tasked for budding parents of today, it remains that teaching them about this fact and reality of life is something that they can very well learn from in both ways.
There is no such way of putting babies to sleep professionally. It depends as well on how an infant react and responds to the attention being given to them. While most people are worried of doing the wrong thing, parents should at least observe and determine ways on how to care for their child better. They just have to start somewhere, sometime.
Teaching new mothers strategies to help their babies overcome sleep problems yields significant benefits for both of them, according to a study conducted in Australia.
Among 328 moms who reported that their 7-month-old was having sleep problems, those who were randomly assigned to participate in a brief behavioral intervention noticed an improvement in their child’s sleep problem, and in their own sleep, and felt less depressed compared with those randomly assigned not to participate in the program.

Sleep Deprivation produces Dilapidated Lives
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung November 13th, 2007 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues.
Sleep is essential to our health and such has been addressed as something costly if people continue to suffer sleep deprivation syndromes. We are usually not ourselves when we lack sleep and most of this are attributed to some factors such as:
- Work
- Stress
- Personal Health Abuse
- Jagged Thoughts
Of course, these are usually part of our daily routine but leaving them as they are is no excuse to sacrifice sleep in their favor. If there are fighters in all of us, then this is one aspect to which we should consider putting value in health and sleep.
Sleep deprivation is an illness we can all manage individually or through the help of sleep professionals. We just have to inject in our heads that sleep is more than just losing rest.

Daylight Savings Time Causes Sleep Problems
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung November 12th, 2007 in SLEEP News, SLEEP Psychology.
Some may call it a mental problem but dealing with the daylight savings time that has been in effect today has some people suffering from sleep disorder issues encountering more problems. The transition from the old time to DST is really something that many deem as affecting the normal body clock of people. But then again, adjustments should be made to be able to get the proper amount of sleep.
People unaware of the time adjustments to daylight savings time would normally live their usual lives. The thing with people today is that adjusting is taken in vain. Just try ignoring this adjustment and there is really low to none adjustments if people so choose to do so.
Sleep can be considered a ‘change of shifts.’ There is the ‘awake’ day brain and the ’sleeping’ night brain. The transition or ’shift change’ from wakefulness to sleep normally takes approximately 10 to 20 minutes. The body needs time to properly shut down the ‘awake’ brain and activate the sleep cycles.”
“Many people with sleep disorders tend to rationalize their symptoms,” says Craig. “They believe fatigue is just part of growing older. Others think they are tired all the time because they are working too hard. Sleep issues are persistently ignored. Sleep studies can help identify the problem early.”
