Free Sleeping Bag Kits for the Underprivileged Sleep Kids
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung December 16th, 2007 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News.
Underprivileged kids do not enjoy the comforts of being able to sleep on a high-class bed like most of us today. With that, the adjustment they have to make to be able to sleep well becomes an issue and mind you, these are kids so it is highly critical.
But there is always room for miracles to occur. Sometimes we may bump into strangers, try to befriend them but just to enjoy the company and enhance our network.
For this kindergarten teacher in carver, it was a miracle that will always be cherished for her underprivileged students.
(Source) Grewis, remembering Garcia’s comment about the sleeping arrangements of some of the underprivileged children, delivered 24 sleeping bag kits - 17 for kindergarten students and seven for after-school pupils Garcia teaches separately, equally divided between boys and girls.
“It was just a miracle. I mean, a little conversation that I thought was just passing time… I just started crying.
“You know, I know these kids, they’re my students. I see them every day. But she, she didn’t even know who they were, just from what I told her. She has compassion and a good heart. She truly is an angel. There are angels here on earth and she is one of them.”

Blue Blockers Sleep Shades

As far as sleeping is concerned, trying to resort to sleep accessories is one thing that most people would do so that they can be able to find that proper medium to sleep soundly.
There are various reasons people consider sleep hindrances such as lighting which poses to be a distraction to which irritates their eyes and mind in not sleeping immediately. While most people turn to sleeping pills or sleeping drugs, sleeping shades is something that may help.
This Blue blocking shades may not totally block the rays of light but rather separates the blue rays which are believed to be obstacles to getting a good and sound sleep.
(Source) Blue rays can delay the start of the sleep hormone melatonin’s flow. By blocking the rays a couple of hours before bed, the glasses alter a person’s circadian rhythms and bring on early melatonin release. Filtering out blue light can improve ADHD symptoms and allow better sleep, according to recent studies from U of T. The blue-blocker shades — which look similar to yellow-lensed night driving glasses — cost between $40 and $60.

Sleep Is Still Wise for Higher Grades

Contrary to reports that cramming and investing on long hours to get better grades is a good thing, it can go the opposite direction. Students are known to inherit that crab mentality attitude wherein when examinations or tests are up around the corner, they would wait until the last minute to review and study lessons to ensure that all these topics would be fresh in their minds.
But according to studies, this has made them more susceptible towards failing for the reason that their minds might not be that open nor aware of what they are trying to feed it. An instant influx of tons of information might become crucial and hence jumble them up leading to waste of effort and poor grades in their academics.
(Source) A survey of 120 students at St. Lawrence University, a small liberal arts college in northern New York, found that students who have never pulled an all-nighter have average GPAs of 3.2, compared to 2.95 for those who have. The study, by assistant professor of psychology Pamela Thacher, is to be included in the January issue of Behavioral Sleep Medicine.
“It’s not a big difference, but it’s pretty striking,” Thacher said. “I am primarily a sleep researcher and I know nobody thinks clearly at 4 in the morning. You think you do, but you can’t.”

Sweet Dreams for a Sweet Sleep
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung December 13th, 2007 in How to sleep better, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues.
If you sleep well, chances are you will dream well too. Sleep problems have been facing most people in more cases than one. There are a lot of factors that include work or becoming a habit. While these are factors that cannot be avoided especially in these times and pressured needs, people just have to be aware that health is equally important.
Our brain needs to rest and exercise. During sleep, there is a portion of our brain which is unused which is exercised. This is the work of dreams where our subconscious selves go to work.
For health reasons, people with less sleep are more prone to illnesses and related problems such as heart diseases. Productivity is one thing but without health to support it, you may as well sign your death sentence.
(Source) Your brain needs sleep because it exercises the parts of the brain you don’t normally use. Your body needs that downtime to repair and refresh its systems. When people don’t sleep for three or more days, they sometimes become psychotic.
