Make Up for Sleep But Gradually
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung May 7th, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Issues, Sleep Myths.
When it comes to trying to make up for lost sleep, you should not really rush it in the way that most people believe it can be. The thing is, proper sleeping habits can only be achieved the natural way and time is sure to be a critical element towards putting your sleeping habits back towards its regular state.
Today, if you are not properly rested, sleep will come back to haunt and collect in the form of deteriorating health. It is a given that people today value sleep unlike before. Being productive is one thing but not being able to sleep in the way that people are traditionally known to be can lead to dire consequences which at most can damage health concerns for people today.
Sleeping too little messes with your mind and hurts your body.
Sleep not only makes you feel sharp and rested; it seems to play a key role in how the brain sorts out information and lays down long-term memories. And a lack of sleep has been associated with maladies ranging from cardiovascular disease to depression the CDC says.

Watching Your Weight While Sleeping
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung May 6th, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Issues.
Sleep is needed for healthier lives but oversleeping can create problems such as weight. Not all people are pretty much inclined to allow their bodies show the bulge. Most people want a fit body and this requires the proper chemistry of sleep and exercise.
Most people are having problems balancing both sleep and productivity. Tip the weighing scales and you may find yourself going overboard as far as weight is concerned. Now that will become a sleepless endeavor. But if you are not careful, you may lose more than just weight if you don’t watch out for your health as a whole.
You’re eating all the right things and logging sweaty hours at the gym, so what’s with the weight gain? If you’ve put your diet and exercise habits under the microscope, but still aren’t getting results, it may be time to consider how other factors like sleep deprivation and high stress levels may be part of the problem.

No Sleep is a Debt to be Paid
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung May 5th, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Issues.
As far as good sleep is concerned, it can be likened to a debt wherein we will eventually have to make up for it. Normally, we do not give these issues much notice. For us, we always have that belief that we can make up for it after we have attended to all our problems.
While that may be true, look again. While you are addressing the sleep issue, you are overlooking the health issue. That is the interest you have to pay when you overlook the value of sleep and its benefits.
Try out these things to catch up on sleep.

Aggressive Advertising for Sleep Aids On the Rise
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung May 4th, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Business, Sleeping Pills.
If you are wondering why most pharmaceutical companies are seen often on your television sets lately, it is because they are trying to market their various sleeping pills for people to try them out.
With this in mind, you may be wondering, aren’t sleeping pills a bad way to restore sleep order? In reality yes but this will not stop sleeping pills manufacturers from producing and marketing their product. Business is business and for sure there are people who are desperate that they want instant results. For sleeping pill manufacturers, these are niches that they can still procure and all it takes is making their product visible to people who are unaware that they are potentially risky to their health.
“Pharmaceutical companies pour a tremendous amount of money and effort into these ad campaigns,” said Michelle Dockhorn, a Rockhurst University assistant marketing professor who has worked in pharmaceutical sales and marketing. “A popular campaign takes a monumental effort. They do a lot of brainstorming to understand the target market and what will make them buy the drug.”

Elders Should Nap Less
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung May 3rd, 2008 in Health Issues, SLEEP News, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues.
Just when we thought that taking naps can more or less make up for our lack of sleep, a study conducted by the Vanderbilt University Medical Center showed that naps in elders at various times of the day are likely to be suffering from serious health disorders that include pain, diabetes and respiratory problems.
Kinda weird if you ask me since considering people who are in the prime of their lives look towards these naps to help them gain more rest towards combating these usual health problems that come with age. Strange as it may, this study proves it so it should be a warning to people who love to nap during the daytime.
“Our study is important both clinically and for future research. It points out the need for health care providers to discuss nighttime sleep and daytime napping with older individuals,” study author Suzanne E. Goldman said in a prepared statement.
The study “also points out the need to identify the causes of disturbed nighttime sleep in order to determine appropriate treatment. Our study suggests that older adults nap because of health problems and disrupted sleep at night. Thus the napping may reflect needed sleep,” Goldman said.
