Headaches from Sleep

Most of us focus a lot on how to be productive but are we really aware of the diseases and illnesses around us? Sleep, something that people take for granted the most is perhaps one of the worst enemies you may have to face. Worst, you may not even know that you have a sleeping problem unless you have regular visits to your local physician.

Apparently majority of the people today may have this unlikely sleep abnormality. We are all pretty much focused on trying to survive but unless we give it much thought, are we among the majority of sleep deprived individuals today?

Well we just have to open our eyes to reality. Sleep issues are there but we normally fail to associate them with sleep disorders. Check this out:

Do you wake up in the morning with a dry mouth and sore throat? Are you irritable and tired throughout the day and suffer from headaches? Do you have trouble remembering or learning things? You may be among the 90% who have no earthly idea they are victim to one of the most common types of sleep related breathing disorders, Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). This condition disrupts breathing while you are asleep, sometimes over 100 times throughout the night. You may have no recollection that you struggled for breath, snored, choked and gasped to get your breath back.

Normally, people are encouraged not to rely too much on sleeping drugs. For drugs like Lunesta and Vanda, there are proper dosages for them to the people who really want results for their sleep disorders. Normally, doctor’s prescriptions are needed to get them and while many want to play wise, it would be best to stick to the prescriptions given.

Also leave some room for errors in dosage. You may be overdoing it and rather than helping yourself get better, you may find yourself not getting any better. Apparently it would be wise to ask your doctor a second time around just for consistency. One digit can make the difference.

Hundreds of thousands of people rely on sleep aids to get them to bed at night. To try and make sure New Yorkers aren’t abusing the drugs, the state put them all on the list of controlled substances a few years back. Normally, that makes it harder to get more than a month’s supply at a time. But here’s The Real Deal on a man who wasn’t having any problems getting a lot more than that.

Mother and Child

The delicate stage of infants today is how fast they can learn things like talking and perception. While we all know that this varies, sleep has been identified as another contributor towards how fast a child can develop such learning abilities.

“Children are able to make the transition well if they are able to interact with peers and teachers and concentrate in class and take on the workload,” he said.

“If you have enough sleep, you have enough concentration … the brain is still growing, they are still taking in a lot of information,” Sydney Morning Herald quoted Jon Quach, lead researcher, as saying.

Lack of sleep contributes to child development and proper growth. Apparently being left out would be the intellectual development of a child. Monitor their sleeping habits and make sure that they get the proper shuteye. It can make a difference.

Siesta

For people who find themselves on the go at times, it would be best to consider a siesta or a short nap before proceeding with your daily chores. Many would not have this privilege especially if they are in an office. However they can try to steal a couple of winks when they are on lunch break. Remember that breaks are given normally up to an hour and for people taking meals, sometimes you can finish eating way beyond the final seconds of your break time.

People need to recharge midway at times. Short as it may you may be surprised at the difference that short stolen naps can provide especially in terms of productivity.

The siesta has been around for thousands of years and was even regarded as a necessity, rather than a luxury. It is still widely practiced in Spain today, though they also use it to get out of the sun during the hottest part of the day and can therefore take as long as two hours to rest.

Sleep deprivation has been a growing pain and most people who are aching for alternative remedies and solutions to this growing disorder can heave a big sigh of relief thanks to the Sleep HealthCenters which have opted to take sleep disorder issues to the next level.

Sleep deprivation has been linked to other health issues such as obesity and heart problems and that alone has become a reason to take sleep problems entirely serious. With an elite group of specialists and providing home sleep testing, the sleep deprived can now expect better attention and diagnoses for their lingering obstructive sleeping problems.

Dr. Lawrence J. Epstein, Sleep HealthCenters’ Medical Director, noted, “Home sleep testing is a viable alternative for those patients who have had a comprehensive sleep evaluation and meet certain criteria, including insurance eligibility. Because untreated sleep apnea has been linked to health problems such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease, it is crucial that as many at-risk patients as possible be tested and treated. At Sleep HealthCenters, we continue to focus on providing expertise in every aspect of care for patients with all sleep disorders, from diagnosis, to treatment, to long-term management.”
