Biological Sleep Disorder Haunts Grey’s Anatomy Star
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung March 31st, 2008 in Health Issues, SLEEP Celebrity, SLEEP News.
Being in the showbiz industry can take its toll on you and such is the problem that Grey’s Anatomy star Justin Chambers confessed. Apparently, this was the result of his battle with exhaustion, something that he described as a biological sleep disorder.
It is safe to say that a lot of us suffer from the same problem even though we are not aware of it. In our minds, we feel we can go the distance without sleep. As they say, you can sleep a lot when you grow old. But while you are in the prime of your life make the most of it.
But the matter of health is also a matter to be considered. Remember that we are not robots. We are humans and our internal organs need sufficient rest in the form of sleep to be able to withstand the various rigors of a competitive life.
Chambers tells People magazine, “I suffer from a biological sleep disorder. Your body is tired but your mind keeps racing. You lie down and then you get up and pace, and then you lie down but you can’t fall asleep.
“It’s like a dog chasing its tail. You get to your wits’ end. I went a good two months without really sleeping.
“So a specialist I had been working with referred me to UCLA. They gave me (medication) in a private room with a connection to the outside, and I slept. Two days there was perfect.”

The Oscars may have been finished and not all favorite actors or actresses came home as the winner. But as a form of consolation, most of the actors didn’t go home empty-handed. Most of them were given a special sleeping mask, the GLOtoSleep masks, to help assist them in sleep disorder problems that most may be suffering from.
It is a fact that most of these celebrities has had to deal with the said sleeping problems, bulk of which were caused by the excitement of possibly winning in the 2008 Oscars. While many had sleepless nights, for the celebrities with recurring sleep problems, this gift is indeed something worthy to help get back to their normal courses of sleep.
Recipients of an ongoing good nights sleep, courtesy of the GLOtoSLEEP™ mask, were Best Actor Nominees: George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Tommy Lee Jones, and Viggo Mortensen; Best Supporting Actor Nominees: Casey Affleck, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Hal Holbrook and Tom Wilkinson; Best Supporting Actress Nominees: Cate Blanchett, Julie Christie, Laura Linney and Ellen Page and Best Actress Nominees: Ruby Dee, Saoirse Ronan and Amy Ryan. Cate Blanchett will get a ‘doubly’ good night’s rest, as she received two masks for being nominated for both Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. Directors Julian Schnabel, Jason Reitman, Tony Gilroy and Paul Thomas Anderson, as well as host Jon Stewart, are also in for a season of restful mellowness as recipients of GLOtoSLEEP™.

Sleeping with the Right Celebrity
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung November 29th, 2007 in SLEEP Celebrity, Sleep Humor, Sleep Myths.
We all have our own world of fantasy. In most cases, we find ourselves wishing to be along with some popular celebrity, sleeping alongside them to our content. But with the wide array of celebrities available in the world, chances are these infatuated dreams of sleeping with them may become ever-changing.
We all know that dreams and wishes come true. But to wish for something like sleeping with them is wishful thinking. It is really more of a sexual fantasy that we all find and chances are we may come to a point of simply laughing about it. It is simply something that may be close to impossible.
(Source) Consequently, I believe that the entertainers we dream of being with define our sexual ideals (and peccadilloes). It says everything about who we really are and what we (at least think) we really want. This is why so many people in relationships have made pacts about what celebrities, if given a chance, they’re allowed to get a free pass to sleep with. In the end, they’re our defining fantasies, and we want to cling to the idea that they, like our dreams for happiness, could one day come true.

Mariah Maintains Voice by Sleeping in Sauna
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung September 2nd, 2007 in SLEEP Celebrity, SLEEP News, Sleep Cures, Sleep Therapy.
Being a singer has its hard times of upkeep and for pop star Mariah Carey, sleeping in a sauna may perhaps boost her melodic voice for the better. The throat of singers are often the most hampered part of a singer’s talent and through the help of steam in saunas, soothing and helping relax the throat of most singers will surely help them maintain and keep their level of singing to a manageable level.
This was not of course implemented by Carey alone. The advice came from the late pop singer Luther Vandross. But of course, sleeping does not mean she stays there overnight. Once temperatures reach warmer levels, she transfers to her normal bed.
The singer was advised by her friend, the late singer Luther Vandross, to adopt the bizarre night-time routine, because steam relaxes the vocal chords.
She said: “It’s for my throat. Sleeping in there will make my voice better because of the steam. Luther Vandross was actually the one who told me about the humidity being helpful for the voice.”
However, Mariah moves to her normal bed when the searing sauna temperatures get too much.
