Sleep Better

Apparently, many of us have our share of sleep problems and others can see it with the sleeping patterns that we follow. Most of these sleeping patterns may be abnormal in nature and the important thing is to analyze and find a way to explain why such sleep patterns turn out to be this way.

Mouth swabs have reportedly been identified as a new way to be able to determine sleep patterns. The genes are key points in the human body that can help analyze the sleep patterns we follow and through these new means, the circadian rhythm of how we sleep can be analyzed and evaluated properly.

Researchers at the Swansea University have developed the new technique of studying sleep pattern through mouth swab. This system can assist findings of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and chemotherapy effectiveness at certain times too.

This analysis identifies the genesdefine that regulate the sleep cycle. The usual sleep and wake pattern is known as circadian rhythm.

A number of genes manage the circadian rhythm and produce ribonucleic acid (RNA). The level of this acid present is indicative of how active an individual is at a given time.

Sleepy Worker

Most employees and executives need to rest their minds to be able to focus on work, a large part of which makes up our day. Other than earning a living, a rested mind will help us make the right decisions and render the type of job that we were hired to be.

You can see the poor performance from employees who have to beg off from work, go on sudden leaves because they either don’t feel well or lack sleep to be able to come to office. While this may or may not be done on purpose, people who work just have to adhere to the importance of sleep. There is no such thing as adopting the role of a robot since we are humans that can really break down if we are not careful.

“Sleep interruptions such as stress and muscle cramp disturb this function and can be very detrimental to everyday life, making it impossible to be productive at work and maintain a positive attitude,” Chris Idzikowski, of the Edinburgh Sleep Centre who came up with the term, was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail newspaper of Britain.

Sleep Skipping

If you are making a habit out of skipping sleep for the sake of doing more, you may want to reconsider that choice. Based on a study, skipping sleep is leaving potential room for mental deficiencies, probably because your brain may be taking too much load trying to keep you awake.

So just like any part of the human anatomy, continues abuse and depriving it of rest will result into one common thing; sudden breakdown and possibly bring with it dire consequences as far as sleep and mental disorders are concerned.

A new study suggests skimping on sleep can cause your brain to suddenly turn off.

CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Goopta says losing just one night of sleep can make the brain prone to sudden shutdowns very quickly.

“You’ll be driving down the road thinking that you’re perfectly awake feeling competent but then all of a sudden you sort of flicker back and forth, and that can be a real problem,” said Goopta.

Sleep Deprived Driving

Most drivers today fail to realize the important of good sleep. A lot had to find it the hard way and some have fatally learned their lesson while driving. While we cannot really tell when car accidents may happen, it would be wise to input in our minds one thing; if you feel drowsy or sleepy, avoid driving.

Such has been an issue is now becoming one of the primary concerns of authorities which have noted sleep deprivation as one of the major causes of car accidents today. It is apparent that most people push them to the limit but if it is your life that is in jeopardy, you better consider addressing your sleep problem firsthand.

A driver crashed into the back of another car Sunday after falling asleep behind the wheel.

The man rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of Johnson Street and Main Street around 2 p.m. Sunday. First responders thought the man was injured because he was unresponsive, said Fond du Lac Police Department Capt. Jon Gutzmann. A report on the incident was not complete by press time Monday and Gutzmann did not know the man’s name.

It turned out the 27-year-old man was asleep, Gutzmann said. The man told police he had a sleep disorder and the disorder had resulted in a previous collision.
