The HMDX Quad Alarm Clock offers a unique time-telling make but other than that advanced feature, this alarm clock also comes with a hidden camera. The added feature should be something that most parents would welcome, particularly for safekeeping and safety of their valuables and maybe even their kids. The camera starts recording once the motion sensors sense movement. To review, people will just have to hook it up to their TV via RCA cables or through an SD card where you can watch recorded videos from a computer. For the common features, the HMDX Quad Alarm Clock comes with the usual AM/FM radio, an AUX in port which allows you to plug in your media player/s and of course the usual alarms that get you out of bed. The HMDX Alarm Clock is available over at Amazon.com for about $449.95. Although the look of this alarm clock is far from advanced if you think about the latest devices available in the market today, the manner on how to shut off the alarm seems oddly advanced for it. This is with reference for the need to input the pin code for this alarm clock. It cannot be unplugged and to get some more snooze, you have to key in the right pin code to shut it up. The effort alone of keying in the PIN code seems to be enough to spur up some juices to get you out of bed, by any means a brutal way to get you out of bed. The clock runs for about $350, a bit steep considering this clock doesn’t necessarily look modern or advanced compared to what people may crave for. Today this may be a rarity but for some people, the practice lives on.
Indeed time does fly and if you have a hard time believing that, maybe the Time Flies Flying Novelty Clock can convince you. Apparently this antique-looking alarm clock is hung from the ceiling which when turned on, elongates some wings and then starts flapping to somehow give you an idea of how to illustrate the familiar acronym. Although it looks more like a toy if you think about it, the Time Flies Flying Novelty Clock runs on 2 AA batteries and should be another humorous way of telling the time and of course waking you. At least with this clock, you may have a hard time hitting the snooze button and, for extreme cases, find it hard to smash it when you are woken up on the wrong side of bed. However, while some people would want those light and mellow tunes to wake them on the right side of bed, there are the stubborn people who may need a more hardcore approach, something ridiculously sounding such as perhaps his Homade Blender Alarm Clock. I guess it is obvious that everyone has heard how annoying and irritating a blender can be when in use. But with the Homade Blender Alarm Clock, you get to pick from four different sounds on what type of alarm would go off to really get you out of bed. It measures just 4″ dia. x 6″, and requires 2 AAA batteries to work. Packed with some modifications, this is one alarm clock that can surely serve its purpose. The Homade Blender Alarm Clock costs about $20 in case you want one over at the Neatoshop.
The Ramos Alarm Clock is another techie solution you can consider having by your bedside, one that offers some variable techie solutions while at the same time making sure you are woken up at the right side of bed. Apparently among the features include having to input a code to turn off the alarm. But it seems that there is more features surrounding the Ramos Alarm Clock, including the option to preset the number of snoozes. It also has a Courtesy Mode to place into consideration other people who may be in the room, a scenario wherein the alarm rings for 10 seconds and then pauses for about a minute. This gives you a window of opportunity to get out of bed and disarm the clock, sparing the sleep of others in the house. The Ramos Alarm Clock is available in two designs: one in LED teak wood and another on a nixie tube clock design. The LED teak wood costs about $160 while the nixie tube clock runs for about $350.
Here is an alarm clock that comes to mind perhaps when I was still a tot. But now it seems that the clock has been redesigned and re-issued, something that will certainly come in handy by your bedside or for people who want to make sure that they are woken up even in the outdoors. The clock offers a simple yet functional design although the redesigned face seems to be a far cry from the first ones that came out. A case of over-redesign and decision to turn to cheap Chinese manufacturing? All that aside, the clock does offer the simplest way to put it to use. So if you are looking for a simple alarm clock (assuming you don’t care much about design), the Braun BNC400 Alarm Clock Lightning should be a safe choice although you may likely go for something with better designs. With the aid of an iPhone, all you need is the Lark Wristband and then you can hook it up to serve as an alarm clock, a sleep coach and a sleep monitor. All these things were made possible through a micromotion sleep pattern sensor and makes use of a data tracking method called actigraphy to help measure people’s sleep patterns to reportedly about 85 to 95 percent accuracy.
Lately we have been seeing a lot of devices that aim to wake you up but in a better way. And for the GEAR4 Renew Sleepclock, it goes way beyond simply going off and pulling you out of bed. The device also comes with a feature which measures your sleep and get you out of bed in a timely manner.

Of course you will need an Apple device like an iPod, iPhone or an iPad too. The device stands to educate one on sleep efficiency, helping you understand and adjust your sleep habits so that you are then able to chart out your sleep data over time in order to sleep better.

Here is something that should get you up from bed in a more subtle manner. Using an old tradition of balancing with water, Veri Wiedermann of Austria offers the Dreamtime alarm clock that should wake you up in the gentlest manner you can even imagine. The water-powered alarm clock uses chimes which should be a great way to get you out of bed, allowing you to wake up from deep slumber without the ranting and irritating way the alarm clocks normally do. All users have to do is pour water into one glass bowl where it will in turn drip silently from one bowl to another. Time is measured organically. As the top bowl gets lighter, it rises and finally lets a hammer fall. Bouncing between the two bowls, the alarm lets out a smooth, singing chime that will put any clock radio to shame. The clock features a Jeeves-like voice which will wake you up at your desired time, something that should add color and class for people seeking loyalty and respect in a manner of speaking. The clock comes with over 120 sound voices from Stephen Fry, witty phrases that should be odd and respectable enough to get anyone out of bed in a jiffy.
GEAR4 has announced that they will be coming out with a new iOS accessory called the Renew SleepClock in the U.S. by March, 2012. And while the price tag of $199 seems a bit steep, wait until you check out the features it comes with which should make it a whole lot reasonable. This includes two sensors that will monitor breathing and movement which should help log sleep cycles for people who want to monitor their sleep. The monitoring is done through a non-contact sensor which aside from monitoring will also determine when users are asleep to wake up people at the right time. Other features include a fading playlist, multiple alarm chime settings and an app that will monitor a person’s sleep patterns. With sounds from the radio, iPod playlists, or even gentle and calming sounds are all available.
During the last Holiday season, a lot of us may have been given calendars or alarm clocks or both. Ideally, these would be great on your office table or perhaps by your bedside, a reference device that should keep you up to date and on your feet when needed. But rather than get one of each, here is a quirky looking concept clock and calendar, one that should save on space and be useful to anyone who wants to keep track of time and dates. This is called the Calenclock, something from designer Ken Lo. The concept piece was designed for Antalis and mixes and matches 12 months of the year as well as the 12 hours you would find on a clock. Packaged and neat, this should be something handy as well to bring along, especially for the constant travelling individuals. Rather than the annoying chimes, this alarm clock chirps to wake you up, also coming with a featured vibrating pillow case which should really get you up on the right side of bed.
The Enso Pearl Clock should be fit for the office although having it by your bedside doesn’t seem like a bad idea. The clock is slim and carries the usual LCD display, all placed in a simple circular shaped clock that delivers a precise and clear idea on the time that has elapsed.

You can set up to 50 sequential times, and if you opt to exercise with your eyes closed, fret not – the Enso will deliver audio cues to help you out, relying on the gentle chimes of Tibetan or Japanese singing bowls.

The Enso Pearl Clock retails for about £79.99.

Don’t let the Puzzle Clock fool you. While its make may seem to make it look like it was meant more of a toy or a décor, it is a functioning alarm clock still. The twist however lies on how the alarm goes off. Apparently, the clock requires a user to take the individual wooden pieces and construct the time on the wooden box. From the looks of it, a user sets the alarm on the clock using the preferred time they want to wake up. It makes use of military time however, meaning it doesn’t come with an am/fm option when setting the alarm. With all that said, this is more of a concentrated alarm clock and not a time piece. So for people who want a special and focused alarm clock, this wooden clock should be something leaning towards that direction. Looking as if provisions were made to integrate an iPhone via a dock of some sort, the Tick tock iPhone Alarm Clock is as modern as they get. It is similar to typical iPhone docking stations and sports 360-degree omni-directional full range speakers that should wake you up and of course deliver music at the right volume in case you are the type who needs some sleep aids via relaxing tunes. The Tick Tock iPhone alarm clock also has a built-in FM radio, an LCD display and five preset alarms that should easily synchronize with your Apple device. It costs around £59.99. The Vibrating Time Bomb Alarm Clock and Bank not only wakes you up at the right moment, it seems to also have a money saving concern tied to it. The clock has three modes. The explosion of the alarm clock can be set to one fourth, one eighth and one fifteenth, probabilities to which the alarm goes off. And the catch is that if you don’t wake up, you may find your saved coins spilt everywhere in your room. Hopefully it doesn’t hit you though. Violent or wild as it may seem, the Vibrating Time Bomb Alarm Clock and Bank can be yours for just $19.99. It is available from Amazon and should be a great help when all other alarm clocks fail!
Alarm clocks normally don’t care if you are ready or not to get up but thanks to some people over at the Jerusalem College of Engineering, a proposed clock that responds to brain waves may soon be a great wake-up solution. The clock will supposedly be able to do this through the proper monitoring of a person’s brain activity. There are five levels of brain activity that people vary between while sleeping, ranging from the relatively close-to-awake Stages 1 and 2, to the deep-sleeping Stages 3 and 4, followed by REM. The only thing about this proposed clock is the interface it would have with a person. For now this seems to be the only connectivity option available but the researchers foresee a commercial version that will not get in the way of quality sleep and respite. This could be in the form of a headband or other forms of wireless transmission which could really be neat.
Here is another alarm clock set to wake you up on the right side of bed. Seemingly made for the male populace (although we do know of some girls who love cars), the Hot Wheels Snore Slammer Alarm Clock radio should be a cheeky device to have by your bedside, sleeping or not. Although it shows only the front-portion from the much popular toy matchboxes probably most of us have grown with, the overall design is quite cool. It features nice red LED graphical displays that will make sure you see the actual time even from a distance. The Hot Wheels Snore Slammer Alarm Clock radio can be yours for just $45.95. The said clock offers adjustable acoustic tunes that were made possible by adjusting the tuning pegs that come with it. The Acoustic Alarm clock features a waxed birch plywood cabinet and two stainless steel knobs for setting the alarm and time. Odd as it may seem, it remains to be seen if this alarm clock could really make it into the market. Check out the video below. The Countdown Clock was made to count down to certain events that are important to you, something perhaps like the coming holidays. With about 91 days and counting, the Countdown Clock should be great for kids or even people counting the days where the festive season of the year will finally be here. It features an LCD display and can conversely count upwards as well, perhaps useful for kids on when their next vacation will be or for adults on when they would get their next pay. Apparently, users have to shake it to shut off the alarm. And mind you, this shouldn’t be just any ordinary shake. You have to shake it as convincingly as you can until the app believes that you are truly up. If not, expect annoying sounds such as an evil laugh or a hungry bear to keep on sounding off to keep on bugging you until you are really awake. The app is available for free over at the iTunes app store although you can get a premium version that costs only $0.99 which comes with more libraries of alarm sounds.
Wake up sweeter with a new and advanced device called the Ring Alarm Clock. Rather than wait for an alarm clock go off, the Ring Alarm Clock is something worn and uses vibration action to get you up on the right side of bed. The Ring Alarm Clock was designed by Meng Fandi, addressing issues where only the proper person would get up once the time comes. The clock makes use of two rings which will be worn by an individual. The rings vibrate once it is time to get up where the base unit allows users to set the time for the two rings and also juice them up. The Ring Alarm Clock is a neatly designed concept, something that should only wake up the people who need to get up and without posing a nuisance for people who want to get more shuteye even if their mate needs to get up and go.

If this alarm clock doesn’t wake you up then you are as good as dead. Of course that is only a manner of speaking but if you take a look at this Defusable Alarm Clock, you can clearly say that it is a “Bomb”! The Defusable Alarm Clock was designed by Mike Krumpus from Nooptic Design, carrying a design that one could only perhaps see in the movies. When the countdown for the alarm starts, people have to snip the right wire of the three wires to diffuse it or avoid letting the alarm from going off. This means though that you may have to replace the wires each time you cut them (right or wrong) to make the alarm work. Cool concept but perhaps that wire cutting thing could leave more room to improve it, especially for people who will not have the time to make timely replacements to make the alarm clock work functionally and effectively. While we did see that alarm clock where you had to shoot the target to make it stop annoying you, here is another cooky alarm clock you may want to check out. This time, this alarm clock looks more modern and realistic, carrying an amalgamation of metal and plastic. As you would guess, the gun acts as the remote control that will stop the alarm whenever you point it at the taxi image embedded on the face of the clock.
If you are on the prowl for a more sane and subtle way to get up over the traditional ringing of alarm clocks then the Lark Wristband Alarm Clock may be the one for you. The Lark is something you can just wear on your wrist which will wake you with a gentle buzz. The Lark should be a great solution as well for people who don’t sleep alone. With the alarm clock wristband, you don’t have to worry about bugging your mate when you have to get up and he or she doesn’t. Additionally, it can monitor your sleeping spells, providing statistics to measure your sleep quality ratings. The only thing here is that people may not necessarily be cool with wearing something on their wrist when they sleep. Similar to being handcuffed, the device also comes with an indicator light that may annoy you at night especially if you are a light sleeper. Other than that, if you want to get improved sleep and be more considerate for people you sleep with, the Lark is something that can really be useful and reasonable to have. It costs only $130 if you are interested in getting one.
The Doctro Who Dalek Digital Projection Alarm clock should be another great alarm clock for the geeky home. This is one alarm clock that should wake you up with its exterminate hover and gun sound effects while projecting the alarm time when the user wants to check back on what time the clock would go off. It projects the time, date or seconds when the demo button is pressed. It also features some speech indicators flashed in white while the base and time displays in glowing blue all through the LCD screen of the said clock. The clock can be purchased from Firebox.com for just £24.99. This is one clock all Dr. Who fans certainly must have.
The Smoke Alarm Clock is a dual-purpose device, something that aims to wake you up and warn you when a fire is starting somewhere. The clock comes with an integrated fire alarm which requires a 9V battery to go off. The clock itself runs on a single AA battery. The clock should be great for the heavy sleepers who don’t actually have a fire alarm in their homes or a sprinkler system. The Smoke Alarm clock carries a dual-function and neat design which should make it simple and easy to blend in with the overall design of a room. The Smoke Alarm Clock is available at Gizoo for only $49.
