Trash the TV and Computer

If you want to be assured that your child goes to sleep whenever its night time in their room, get rid of the intangibles that pose as a temptation and distract from them to sleep.
We all know that providing necessary recreation and entertainment are important in setting the right ambiance and to keep our kids away from potential vices like staying out late but you have to know where to draw the line.
The presence of a television or computer pose as a sleep obstacle considering kids may be tempted to watch TV or use their computer to play games and log on the Internet. But as a whole, the matter of knowing when to stop is a problem for kids these days.
So unless you want your kids to join the growing number of insomniacs and sleep deprived people in the world today, think twice on where you put the television set and the family computer for health reasons.

The Sleep Quest Program of Discovery Heatlh
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung September 3rd, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Business, Sleep Issues.
Perhaps it is not surprising why Discovery Health is listed among CRF’s Best 50 Employers portfolio since it makes sure that it takes care of its employees, even if it means providing them sleep bonuses.
A lot of companies could do well to see the Sleep Quest program that Discovery Health has brewed up, believing more on health rather than reprimanding and branding employees on laziness. Sleep is an essential part of productivity and hence is an obvious advantage if you get well-rested employees manning the various stations of your business empire.
The initiative, created with under-performing employees in mind, offers selected staff the option of having a nap in exchange for overtime hours worked. According to the scheme – dubbed ‘Sleep Quest’ – for every hour of overtime, the employee will receive a 30-minute sleep credit, or ‘Nap Scrap’.
The employee has the choice to use his or her 30-minute Nap Scrap immediately, or accumulate several Nap Scraps and use them for a longer sleep. However, employees can only utilise a maximum of four hours total sleep time at one time, after which they begin again with zero credit.

Baby Sleep Affected by Depressed Mothers
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung September 2nd, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP News, SLEEP Psychology, Sleep Issues.
So now it can be told. As far as understanding why some babies have a chaotic way of sleeping, much of it can be attributed to the state that their mothers are in before they are born.
This is really a traditional belief. We see mothers doing a lot of things to help mold their babies into wiser and healthier offsprings. Apparently, the bottom-line is that they have to make sure that they are always in a light mood since the mental state plays a vital role in baby upbringing and sleep patterns are included in them.
Here are some of the common things we see pregnant mothers do to ensure that their baby is healthy both physically and mentally overall:
1. Reading books
2. Sleeping at the right time
3. Body Lying positions
4. Food preferences
5. Vitamins and supplements
These are common things we see for most mothers today. For the new and upcoming mothers, take the advice of your own mother. They can make a difference in the upbringing of you future child and help you understand them better.

Angelina Jolie Feeling the Effects of Motherhood
1 Comment Published by Brian Yalung August 31st, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, Narcolepsy, SLEEP Celebrity, SLEEP News, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues.
Raising one child is one thing but to take care of 6 is another. We are all aware that new mothers have that problem with adjusting to their new sleeping habits so you can just imagine how it would be like to take care of 6 babies, which includes twins, at night.
No other than sensational actress Angelina Jolie can attest to the fact that she is suffering from sleep deprivation but you will not hear her complaining. Something that is perhaps least expected from a hyperactive and on the go celebrity seems to be setting its toll as reported by one UK tabloid on the Lara Croft star.
“She’s in tears up to three times a day and so tired that Brad’s found her collapsed asleep in the bath twice, the UK gossip magazine Now reports, citing a source.
“She’s been working around the clock, breast-feeding the babies and trying to get them to sleep. But as soon as one of them drops off, the other wakes up for another feed.
“She’s also not eating very much right now and blames that on being busy. The doctor says that she needs more calories to gain strength and ensure that her breast milk is healthy.”

Bringing in the Green Comes from Dreams
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung August 29th, 2008 in Dreams, SLEEP News, SLEEP Psychology, Sleep Business, Sleep Issues, Sleep Myths.
When we sleep, we are susceptible to various kinds of things that go around in our dreams. Normally for some reason, we are given sign and signals on what to do. This includes business. To most, it may seem as foolish and fictitious but for others it can do wonders.
While some may call it a sudden burst of idea, perhaps one good explanation is that when we sleep, we are relaxed and not under pressure. Further, before we hit the sack, chances are we have had a certain business issue in mind and normally it can be carried onto us even in our sleep. So the result may be guides on what and what not to do.
A lot of people have benefited from it and perhaps many more entrepreneurs can get the same tip if they are thinking of what business to put up. Crazy but it can work and you have nothing to lose!
Alan Stafford, an executive coach and self-described “sleepworker” interviewed by Fortune Small Business, offers tips on how entrepreneurs can boost their creative and problem-solving juices during sleep, such as identifying business problems that need to be solved right before falling asleep, waking up slowly instead of with an alarm clock and keeping a dream journal on the nightstand.
