The Dreaded Snooze of your Alarm Clock

For people who have to get up at designated times to which alarm clocks are set, it may be a big problem. Add to the fact that some people go as far as not getting the right amount of sleep to recharge their bodies, the alarm clock is the last thing you would want to hear in the morning.
However, you can always push the snooze button to get some extra minutes of sleep. But the question is on whether snoozing is worth it or risky. Some people love to use the snooze to capture some more sleep. Each minute counts. But the problem is when you snooze, you may end up sleeping again.
For the people who love stay out late and sleep less, don’t blame the snooze button of your alarm clock. You only have yourself to blame for not sleeping the proper way.
It’s the most tempting thing in the world - your alarm clock goes off to wake you up in the morning. You reach for the snooze button to get an extra few minutes of sleep.
It’s something you’ve likely done often as the daily ritual of getting up just a bit too early, staying up just a little too late and working just a few too many hours catches up to you.
“If I know I can sleep in, then I’ll probably hit it between 12 and 14 times,” laughs Annamaria. “If I know I have to get up, then it’s five or six.”

Eyes Show Your Lack of Sleep

At times, it is easy to spot the people who lack sleep. Other than looking haggard overall, you can simply see it in their eyes. Eye bags are bulging and they have some red eyes at times as well. As far as eyes turning red, it should not be surprising.
Normally, when a person would see you with red eyes, they would say you took a quickie nap. So if that is the case, why? Well for sure, you are trying to make up for lost sleep perhaps on the night before.
The next time you see red or feel that your eyes are so strained, don’t be surprised. You need to make up for sleep and your eyes are obviously telling you why.
“When you don’t get enough sleep, your eyes haven’t had enough time to refresh themselves. As a result, the blood vessels near the surface of the eye become enlarged and dilated, causing the bloodshot look,” says Dr. Press. “The best remedy is, of course, to get more sleep, but there are different things you can do to get rid of your red, dry eyes.”

Tai Chi Yourself to Better Sleep

We have been hearing the growing relation of obesity with sleep these days and indirectly, the point is people have to spice up their lives with certain activities that can perhaps add spice to their normal routine. This does not really entail rigorous activities and in fact, a study has showed that Tai Chi Chih, an ancient form of Chinese Martial arts, can significantly help improve sleeping patterns.
This is a good activity to participate in considering that it is a better alternative to healthier lives compared to the usual reliance of people on drugs to get that much needed sleep.
Studies show that more than half of older adults experience sleeping problems at least a few times a week, Irwin and his team note in their report. While CBT can ease insomnia, few therapists have the training to offer this type of treatment, which is also relatively expensive. And while aerobic exercise can also help people sleep better, vigorous workouts aren’t an option for many seniors.
To investigate whether tai chi chih might be an option, Irwin and his team analyzed sleep quality in 112 people aged 59 to 86 participating in a randomized, controlled trial of the martial art for preventing shingles. Tai chi chih instruction was given in 45-minute sessions, three times a week.

You Can Beat Insomnia!

To most people, Insomnia is an enemy that they want to conquer. But the problem is, despite all the artillery in the form of pills and CPAP sleep masks seem to be falling short of achieving their primary purpose. It is for this reason that perhaps the natural means of trying to get some sleep should be the way to go.
Most of these tips are common but if we really put our minds to it, it may eventually pay off.

Fragile X deprives Sleep

The lack of two related genes in autistic children has been discovered to be a cause for abnormal sleep in human genetics. Apparently, this genes termed as Fragile X, pose as a sleep issue for autistic children or from people who suffer from the Fragile X syndrome.
The findings were reported from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
“This has never been seen in a mouse before,” lead researcher Dr. David Nelson, a professor of molecular and human genetics, said in a prepared statement.
The findings, published in the current issue of The American Journal of Human Genetics, are important, because children with autism or fragile X syndrome tend to have problems getting to sleep and staying asleep. Fragile X is the most common known cause of autism.
