Remedy your Snoring
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung September 8th, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Issues, Sleeping Pills, Snoring.
Snoring has to be the most irritating thing you would want to hear when you are sleeping. But if you feel like that, then perhaps the person in the same room would think of the same thing. However, there is more to snoring than just being an irritating sound. It could also lead to risks connected with your overall health.
With that in mind, it would be best to try and resolve snoring for health and social purposes. You can remedy social issues by perhaps sleeping in a separate room. But for health reasons, there should be a remedy that is not purely constrained towards taking medicine and pills.
Some remedies for snoring may include:
- Sleep on your side. To avoid a new position, check out some pillows that can help you avoid changing that side view position.
- Avoid alcohol or any form of medication
- Trim down to your suggested weight
- Avoid or Quit Smoking
- Sleep with your head elevated. You can use pillows to help you sleep in that said position.

Sleep Does Not Cure Migraines
1 Comment Published by Brian Yalung September 7th, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues.
So now it can be told. Just when we thought that the best cure for migraines was to sleep on it, studies have now revealed that it can actually aggravate it! Apparently, the common knowledge and belief we had ever since was that migraines can be cure by sleep or from pain killers.
But now, this may explain on why at times we are wondering why migraines continue to persist even if we do sleep more than 9 hours. Thus, it is best we follow the standard sleeping hours and try not to sleep more unless we can handle these migraine attacks.
Researchers at the Clinic of Neurology at University Hospital Zvezdara in Belgrade found that patients who slept for longer than nine hours had more frequent migraine attacks than those who slept less.
The findings were released at the European Headache and Migraine Trust International Congress in London on Sunday, at the start of Migraine Awareness Week.

Would you Sleep with this Lightmate Pillow?
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung September 6th, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP Gadgets, SLEEP News, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues. We all know the relevance of having good pillows to sleep on but the design of these pillows is likewise important. We are used to the standard pillow designs, usually square and colorful concepts that make them great cushion support for various parts of the body or perhaps something to cuddle on to, but when you think about this LightMate Pillow, you may think twice on whether it can truly provide you sleep or nightmares.
The design is not all that appealing. Unless you live in the extreme or ignorant side of life, chances are you may have trouble sleeping with it. But as long as you can sleep, perhaps it won’t matter. Well that depends on who is sleeping with these LightMate Pillows by their side.
Designed by artist Francesca Lanzavecchia, NightMates are “soft anthropomorphic pillows and warming lamps” that are supposed to keep you company (and comfy) at night. They come in different sizes, depending on how much anthropomorphic love you need, but you might wanna stick with the smaller ones that are more like Glo-Worms—the full sized ones are more than a little creepy, like something that slithered off the cover of one of my roommate’s NSFW manga collection to do wrong things to you while you sleep.

Get Rid of Bad Luck By Sleeping in Coffins
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung September 5th, 2008 in SLEEP News, Sleep Education, Sleep Events, Sleep Myths.
One can just imagine how if feels to sleep in a coffin. Eerie and gross as it may seem, it looks highly improbable to convince people to try it. But for people in Malaysia, there is more to sleeping in coffins than getting respite. It is a form of getting rid of bad luck, something that most of us surely want to do especially if you are that superstitious.
The daily reported that the devotees believed that by following the ritual, their families would be blessed with prosperity and good fortune.
The ritual was common in the old days but temples in Malaysia rarely carry out such ceremonies now as coffins are still considered “not a very good thing” by the community, the daily reported.

Though it seems this has been a traditional practice, it makes you wonder if you can truly sleep in a coffin or on the other hand, get nightmares from doing it. Well that is culture for you, something that differentiates each race today.

Trash the TV and Computer
1 Comment Published by Brian Yalung September 4th, 2008 in How to sleep better, Insomnia, SLEEP News, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues.
If you want to be assured that your child goes to sleep whenever its night time in their room, get rid of the intangibles that pose as a temptation and distract from them to sleep.
We all know that providing necessary recreation and entertainment are important in setting the right ambiance and to keep our kids away from potential vices like staying out late but you have to know where to draw the line.
The presence of a television or computer pose as a sleep obstacle considering kids may be tempted to watch TV or use their computer to play games and log on the Internet. But as a whole, the matter of knowing when to stop is a problem for kids these days.
So unless you want your kids to join the growing number of insomniacs and sleep deprived people in the world today, think twice on where you put the television set and the family computer for health reasons.
