Yes, this movie can be interpreted a lot of ways, which is great for replay value, a genius notion from the film maker himself. BUT- beyond a few snags, goofs, and a some possible things that didn't add up or connect, it was crafted perfectly to make a point. Nolan recently said that the end was meant to show that Cobb didn't care whether he was in one reality or not anymore, and that he can see his children's face again: “The important thing is that Cobb’s not looking at the top. He doesn’t care.” That about sums it up. Or does it? In the beginning when Old Saito is questioning Cobb in shared Limbo-space, Saito mutters the line: "You remind me of someone... a man I met in a half-remembered dream. He was possessed of some radical notions." and thus the dialogue with Cobb resumes. At the end when it leads up to that opening scene again, the lines are much different: "Saito: Have you come to kill me? I've been waiting for someone...
Cobb: Someone from a half remembered dream...." and there lies a major issue.
Mal tells Cobb he can't just live in one reality anymore. So perhaps this one moment that is extremely different can be chalked up to just simple POV? In Pulp Fiction, Tarantino opened with Ringo and Honeybunny robbing the restaurant, (you can hear Jules & Vincent having their little chat before the commotion) and HoneyBunny says her line one way; at the end when Jules and Vincent are having their conversation before Vincent uses the bathroom (you can hear Ringo and HoneyBunny having thier chat before they decide to rob the restaurant) HoneyBunny change says her line a different way, signifying Jules interpreting it one way and Ringo another. Or the entire movie was indeed Cobb constantly stuck in Limbo and desperately trying to work his way out every time, getting closer to accepting his dream world as reality without the guilt of what happened to Mal. He may indeed keep looping into an indefinite stream of alternate situations involving the same characters, leading up to Old Saito, and something changing slightly at that point again. Who knows. This is why Christopher Nolan is the MASTER. The answer most certainly could be anything.....

theorically most of the people who would try to beat this would die after 72 hours...As the record is technologically oudated it would probably not be reproducable nowadays (with a set of sensor, captor plugged to the head it'll be demonstrated that the guy has micro-sleep times...).

What if in reality, Cobb was taking the flight, he entered the plane and saw all of his fellow passengers, he then slept and all these people were incorporated into his dream, thus when he awoke he didnt speak to them, he left the airport, the other passengers saw him and smiled (just acknowledging him because they had all been on the same long flight), then he went home??? i have been thinking of solutions until my head hurts, this could be the simplest version!

it goes further than just the calories that are being burned;

"One study in which the effect of sleep on weight was shown did take place over 16 years and included almost 70 thousand middle-aged women. The research showed that those women who slept for 5 hours each night were more than 30% more likely to experience significant weight gain (33 pounds or more) and 15% more likely to become obese than the women who slept 7 hours each night.
The women who experienced the weight gain and only slept 5 hours a night, was not due to these women eating more or exercising less. In fact, the researchers found out that these women ate less than the ones who didn’t gain weight!"

@marie good remark about the soda! lot of people just take the 'easy' 'lazy' route and take sleep medication while forgetting there is a lot you can do naturally. Like mentioned avoiding coffee or soda, but also not sitting in front of the bright lit screens until late at night; this might cause our bodies to produce less melatonin since that production is sensitive to light.

Organic mattresses are becoming extremely popular these days due to the rising health concerns and increasing number of lung diseases amongst children. All kinds of products that are made using synthetic material have some kind of negative effects on its users. So it is often better to find healthier alternatives for those things that are used on a daily basis.Organic mattresses are actually made using plants and other natural products and are not treated using any chemicals. Even the smallest products used in organic mattresses such as glue, rubber or woods are made using completely natural products and certified to meet international standards.

Alarm clock too bright ? Lights from electronics keeping you awake ? Even a small amount of light in your bedroom during sleep can cause you to wake numerous times, without even knowing it. This can lead to daytime tiredness and irritability.
The 'GLO to SLEEP' mask, which uses a cross between the yoga relaxation technique and self-hypnosis mask has helped a number of celebrities sleep. It uses inert photoluminescent ink dots to create a focal point to relax the mind and allow natural sleep to follow.

"Peter,

I'm speechless. For the first time in nearly 20 years, I've been able to sleep through the night. I have occasionally awaken, but only for a brief few minutes, compared to my usual 2-3 hours of tossing and turning trying to get back to sleep. What's even more amazing, I haven't had to get up to use the bathroom at night. I've been telling friends and family, so I expect you'll be getting e-mails and calls. My wife wants to get one of her own and I told her I would e-mail you and ask for one for her. But this e-mail is to say thank you. With all the reports coming out about sleep deprivation, I believe "Glo to Sleep" is a life saver. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,

Ernie Hudson - TV and film actor "

Wow! I have just had a three-level dream, that's why I came to this site. The first scene was driving my new car along a muddy dirt road. A black car with rear plate blacked out backed up from a side street into my front bumper but I wasn't upset, as the touch was small. I reversed on the road and took off in the opposite direction, the road being a rutted mud pit by this time. Coming against me was an old Pontiac, which suddenly swerved across my path, forcing me to T-bone it and wreck the front end of my car. We stopped facing the same direction; I wound down my window (his was already open) and shouted to him: "Do you have insurance?!" "No!" he said. Then I told him: "Hey, that's OK, I'll change the dream!"

At that point, my car was fixed and I went on my way. The next scene was where I was sitting on a stoop telling two old people about my dream and the fact that I had changed it.

Weird! But really unusual... It's a first for me and I look forward to more. By the way, I am not a smoker of any sort and don't do drugs.

Anyone want to comment?

This may be a bit more expensive than most alarm clocks, but the extra cost is well worth it. What a great way to wake up! Does the Polar Bear come with the clock?

The problem is not only feeling like the walking dead, it's more dangerous because of course it overlaps to the driving dead. Staying in focus with quick responses when driving is tricky when you've only had 4 hours sleep and during that time you have awoken at least 30 times per hour.
I have searched long ad wide for a solution to my exhaustion, and tried endless methods to recover. Some are funny and some not so much. Please enjoy my blog where I go into great detail outlining how to solve this problem.

As part of the surgical procedure I endured this summer, was the reduction of the turbinates in my nose. I have had no side affects and it even seems to have prevented nose bleeding that i had in the past.
After having tried endless CPAP masks, oral appliances, Provent, didgeridoos..I am hopeful that surgery will give me lasting success. I have maintained my sense of humor despite my lack of sleep and invite you to check out my blog.
Sweet dreams,
Caroline

I am envious if this surgery has worked, as my procedure of UPP and glossopexy have not had great results yet and I am dealing with an infection where the screw was inserted in my chin. What is the name of this procedure where the back of the tongue is burned?
My story has been 2 years in the making and I share my aspects of it with humor in my blog to allow others with sleep apnea to find comfort. You are welcome to check it out.

I'm interested in knowing how this technique is different from a glossopexy? I just had that procedure together with a UPP but unfortunately I got an infection in my chin and the screw came out after 2 months. Now my choices are to do that procedure again which is upsetting or to search for an alternative.
I blog about my crazy journey through CPAP masks, oral appliances, didgeridoos and surgery.

Great article! I myself have suffered eye infection and bulging red blood vessels on my cornea from leaving my daily wear lenses too long, but even extended wear lenses must be properly cared for.
