Bedsores are normally issues that one would inherit when they lie down a lot, particularly in hospitals. In most cases, people (or patients) rarely have a choice especially if they have an illness for being there. Other than hospitals, this could also occur in homes too, especially for the immobile folks who are left with no other recourse but to lay on their bed and all.
And while many could care less for bedsores, there are certain implications which make you think otherwise. This includes that of developing pressure ulcers which develops when an area of the skin is placed under pressure from the weight of the entire body.
To somehow avoid them, a new kind of bed linen could help decrease the issue of bedsores or pressure ulcers. And thanks to the efforts of researchers over at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Science and Technology (Empa), Schoeller Medical and the Swiss Paraplegic Centre, a new bed linen called the “dot matrix” linen aims to help reduce the friction against human skin while also allowing greater absorption of problem moisture.
The bed linen continues to undergo testing at Schoeller Medical ahead of a launch in early 2013.
