Sleep Bruxism Linked to Stress

Have you experienced some teeth-grinding episodes when you are asleep? Well if you are and are wondering why this is happening, you may be working too hard or are stressed out. Also known as Sleep Bruxism, this has found to be common and yet unresolved. However new studies may yet link it and provide us with a better understanding of why this occurs.

“Its causes are still relatively unknown, but stress has been implicated. We aimed to investigate whether different stress-factors, and different coping strategies, were more or less associated with these bruxism symptoms.”

The study was made by Dr Maria Giraki, from Heinrich-Heine-University in Dusseldorf, Germany who studied 69 people, 48 of whom were tagged as “bruxers”.
