In what has to be a device that will certainly get you out of bed and on your feet, the Megaphone Alarm Clock should be a blaring solution to alert anyone who may still be groggy and sleeping soundly. The alarm clock which is available from the Museum of Modern Art Store, may throw you off track with its look. But mind you, looks can be deceiving. The clock features 10 decibel beeping alarms and comes with a backlight too. Other features include a host of buttons at the back. The Megaphone Alarm Clock retails for about $45, an insane solution if all other alarm clocks still fail. Looking as if provisions were made to integrate an iPhone via a dock of some sort, the Tick tock iPhone Alarm Clock is as modern as they get. It is similar to typical iPhone docking stations and sports 360-degree omni-directional full range speakers that should wake you up and of course deliver music at the right volume in case you are the type who needs some sleep aids via relaxing tunes. The Tick Tock iPhone alarm clock also has a built-in FM radio, an LCD display and five preset alarms that should easily synchronize with your Apple device. It costs around £59.99.
Normally, tablets like the iPad 2 come with alarms and clocks that make them neat alternatives as far as sleeping and waking at the right time is concerned. However, a San Francisco company has come up with something cheekier with the DODOcase for the iPad 2 that features a tiny magnet hidden in the liner which toggles the wake/sleep function of the popular tablet. Actually, the feature was strongly requested before as per the manufacturers. Not only that, they also offer Monogramming too (for about $9.99). The new wake/sleep function is a feature that Dodocase owners have long requested and until now, had to use ugly DIY solutions. Apparently, Dodocase believes in quality hence the new feature/s.
Alarms via iPhones is nothing new but something different seems to be intended if you constantly hit the snooze option for this iPhone app. The alarm app apparently donates a quarter each time you hit the snooze option in the Snooze for iPhone app. And mind you, this is not a forced contribution but rather asks you twice in a month which non-profit organization you would want to donate, that is if you would care. The app seems to be more of a reminder on how we can do our part to donate to charitable institutions. The app acts more of a reminder that the more we snooze, the more we should be made aware of what we can contribute when we are awake. Although the app may seem to be something that could help us sleep more as long as we do our part as far as donations are concerned, it may have consequences as sleeping longer and probably going to school or work late despite being bugged by reminders on donating. The app is cool for added sleep but as far as the donation part is concerned, it seems to lack something to really make it effective. While this is one alarm clock that is reportedly just a concept, it could be a great way to get your attention or wake you up for that matter. This is a Money Shredding Alarm Clock which tears down your money into shreds if you don’t wake up once the alarm goes off. In the example, a $100 is used and there was no mention if this would be limited to such an amount or would be variable. Personally, making it stick to a $100 bill for it to work would be bolder! Anyway, unless you are the filthy rich kind, this is one alarm clock that should address your prolonged sleep syndrome issues. It doesn’t mention anything about what happens or a snooze option but doing away with such should be neat to get you up and about.

Never be late with this Morning Countdown Clock which can be a great solution for people who love to take a snooze even after being woken up. It has the usual alarm for the time to get up but the real twist is that it also alerts you when you have to head out that door. Perfect for the people who seem to be habitually late mainly because they find themselves wanting to sleep some more. It allows you to set two alarms, one for waking up and one for when you’re supposed to head out the door, and the clock will announce the remaining time at the 1 hour mark, the 45, 30, 20, 15, 10, 5, 3, 2, and one 1 minute marks, 30 seconds, 20 seconds and finally a 10 second countdown. It’s probably rather annoying, but I guess it’s supposed to be that way to keep you on time in the morning. You can get the Morning Countdown Clock for $33 at the Japan Trend Shop with a choice of white or blue colors.
What could possibly be better to wake you up on a different note other than a talking alarm clock? We have seen a lot of them available in the market but the Accenda Sunshine Voice Activated Talking Alarm Clock is its voice-activation feature. The Accenda Sunshine isn’t just an alarm clock that you set before you go to bed at night, and use only when you get up in the morning. This is one that you can use all day. For example, you can record a memo for you or someone else to hear, and then set the alarm to remind you of an event. You can record up to three individual alarms for this personal touch during the day. The Accenda Sunshine Voice Activated Talking Alarm Clock runs on three C batteries, or it can just plug into the wall. You should be able to purchase this product at the Smart Home site for about $69.99. Now we call it alarm clock but I guess this would be one of the first alarm clock patents ever. Looks awful painful though when waking up to this device, probably not good for modern ages… . . . The object of my invention is to construct a simple and effective device for waking persons from sleep at any time which may have previously been determined upon, the device being also adapted for use in connection with an electric or other burglar-alarm apparatus, in place of the usual gong-alarms. . . . Ordinary bell or rattle alarms are not at all times effective for their intended purpose, as a person in time becomes so accustomed to the noise that sleep is not disturbed when the alarm is sounded.
In carrying out my invention I suspend a light frame in such a position that it will hang directly over the head of the sleeper, the suspending-cord being combined with automatic releasing devices, whereby the frame is at the proper time permitted to fall into the sleeper’s face . . . the only necessity to be observed in constructing the frame being that when it falls it will strike a light blow, sufficient to awaken the sleeper, but not heavy enough to cause pain. . . .
