Today we find a sleep solution which should serve as something neat to have for people wanting to sleep sweetly, in a manner of speaking. This comes in the form of a waffle bedding, something that comes complete with fruit-shaped pillows. The bedding is made to order, something that makes sense knowing that most of us are familiar of eating pancakes or waffles once we awaken. However, the thing is that the waffle bedding stands to render the necessary improvements for people to sleep better. The bedding should be something that will really spice up the traditional bed covers which many find dull. In any case, if you want to sleep in a different way, the waffle bedding with fruit pillows are available over at Etsy for about $100. This bed is made to order and would need 2 to 3 weeks to complete. Magniflex has come up with a cool-looking mattress called the Tonino Lamborghini mattress, crafted with the finest materials that should provide the proper body support and temperature regulation for a good night’s sleep. The mattress comes complete with matching bedding although I doubt anyone would even think of throwing away $4,092 for it.
SIDS has been known as a key identifier as far as infant deaths are concerned and October has been designated as the month to observe and make people aware of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. SIDS is a case where healthy babies, normally the sleeping children, die with no immediate cause to be found. This condition is the number one cause for infants from one month to one year of age, with most deaths occurring between two and four months. The American Academy of Pediatrics has released a set of guidelines for parents to be more cautious on SIDS: Put your baby to sleep on his or her back. Be sure your baby is placed to sleep on his or her back when staying with relatives or at child care. Don’t Smoke. Select bedding carefully. Keep your baby close by. Offer a pacifier. Moderate room temperature.
For sure a lot of us have the habit of sleeping with our blankets or anything on our bed covering our head. But now it may be wise to try and avoid this habit, that is if you want to avoid diseases like Alzheimer’s disease. A study can attest to that. The study found that sleeping with the head partially or fully covered by bedding would result in a 92.8% chance of suffering from either an early stage, middle stage, or late stage of dementia, by the age of 70. The study considered that sleeping in a restricted air space would result in a depletion of oxygen over time accompanied by an increase in carbon dioxide through re-breathing, the repeated inhalation of exhaled air. This can result in episodes of hypoxia.
Just in case you missed it, yesterday was World Sleep Day. Sponsored by the World Association of Sleep Medicine, this event was meant to raise awareness on sleep disorders such as insomnia and sleep apnea. More than 1/3 of adults suffer from sleep disorders and much of this was addressed at this event. For the sleep-deprived, here are some 10 Commandments of Sleep Hygiene shared. They may sound simple but check them out because you may have missed some of them in your daily routine. Fix a bedtime and an awakening time. Limit daytime naps to 30-45 minutes. Avoid excessive alcohol 4 hours before bedtime and do not smoke. Avoid caffeine 6 hours before bedtime. This includes coffee, tea and many sodas, as well as chocolate. Avoid heavy, spicy, or sugary foods 4 hours before bedtime. A light snack before bed is acceptable. Exercise regularly, but not right before bed. Use comfortable bedding. Find a comfortable temperature setting for sleeping and keep the room well ventilated. Block out all distracting noise and eliminate as much light as possible. Reserve the bed for sleep and sex. Don’t use the bed as an office, workroom or recreation room.
