Leave it to hotels to do their part to help guests gain better sleep while traveling as Crowne Plaza Hotels takes the lead in introducing snore-proof rooms. The rooms promise to give guests better respite and sleep, made for couples who have sleep problems due to their partner’s snoring and vice versa. A study revealed that half of the couples in the UK struggle to get a good night’s sleep due to snoring partner/s but the new hotel rooms should address all that. The rooms feature sound proofing on walls to absorb the loud the frequencies, a special sound absorbing head board, an anti-snoring bed wedge which acts as a body pillow, an anti-snoring pillow which uses magnets and a white noise machine which is proven to help drown out the droning snoring noise and help sleep and relaxation. This development should be great for travelers who normally end up sacrificing sleep due to these snoring issues and of course the fatigue of being always on the go. But for the people who happen to have one of the popular devices we know of today like the Apple iPhone, here is an app that should be worthy getting – The Anti-Sleep Pilot App. The app promises to safeguard drivers, especially the ones who get drowsy while they are behind the wheel. With the app, users can create a customized fatigue profile based on situational factors. All together, 26 factors go into determining fatigue at any given point, which is pretty impressive. The factors seem scientifically sound, as well. Ultimately, the app will sound an alarm when it determines that the fatigue has become too much, and the driver needs to pull over and take a break. The app is available over at the iTunes app store for $19.99, a handy must-have app for people who have the iPhone or the iPad.
Diagnosing sleep problems can be done with various sleep-monitoring gadgets but for the business sector, here is one device that promises to check if their employees are sleep-deprived or otherwise over fatigues. The device is called the ReadiBand wrist-worn sleep monitoring device, the first solution said to produce medical-grade results in determining results of sleep quality, quantity and timing but at a fraction of the cost of an overnight stay in a specialist sleep clinic. The device is being used by major international companies as we speak, to monitor fatigue and optimize operational safety. It is worn continuously like a wristwatch and runs on rechargeable batteries. It makes use of a series of algorithms to measure sleep quality from a user’s wrist movements, technically termed ‘actigraphy’. Collected data is then wirelessly downloaded to a computer for analysis using the Nordic 2.4GHz ANT transceivers while the user is still wearing the ReadiBand after which the information is processed through a specialized performance prediction model. And the final word is of course the diagnosis and taking on pre-emptive measures to help improve employee health and ultimately, work performance.
Here is something timely. With people expected to embark on long trips as the Holidays set in, sleeping while driving could be pretty much a concern. But not with the Anti-Sleep Pilot! Considered a modern day NoDoz, this is one gadget you can have on your vehicle’s dashboard and will keep you awake once it senses you falling asleep. The ASP will further keep you on your toes by giving you random tests throughout the drive and will help you maintain your alertness. And by how fast or slow you react to these test, the device will calculate at what level your fatigue is. If you really are just too tired to drive and the ASP senses it, it will send off signals and lights telling you that you need to take a break. The ASP is only available in Denmark for now but should make its way into the U.S. soon. Read a dashboard, denmark, fatigue, holidays, pilot, random tests, signals, sleep, SLEEP Gadgets, toes
a

Coffee has always been known to help people stay awake but can also be addicting. You can perhaps liken it to smoking which to many is a hard habit to break. Immediate withdrawal is perhaps close to imminent failure but incremental or withdrawal can be done to try and regulate coffee intake. But that may be easier said than done, especially for people who consume 600 to 700 grams of coffee. The withdrawal syndrome usually occurs 18 to 24 hours later. It consists of severe fatigue, irritability, mood swings, headache and flu-like symptoms. This can be avoided by a gradual taper. Hence a better approach would be to decrease consumption by one cup every two days to help yourself get off the caffeine addiction as far as coffee is concerned.

Aswagandha is actually a scientific term for Withania somnifera and induces sleep for people suffering from insomnia. It calms the body and mind thus leading to eventual slumber. Aswagandha’s odour is not palatable. It smells like a horse’s sweat. But its health benefits range from fighting insomnia to improving fertility levels, and from controlling diabetes to keeping epilepsy under check. It improves the muscles, fights fatigue and brings down the levels of trauma and suffering.
Again the iPhone has covered another part of our lives, particularly the ones with sleeping problems. The Reggie White Sleep Disorder Research and Education Foundation has releases a free iPhone app which aids users in finding out if they are at risk of sleep apnea. It combines three screening tools used by sleep specialists to determine an individual’s risk of having or developing the sleep disorder that affects 18 million Americans. It provides immediate feedback once users provide answers to questions regarding their sleep habits, snoring, fatigue, and health factors. Indeed, this is one sleep gadget that can gather some data to properly evaluate the sleep apnea issues one has to deal with. The app is free for download and can be obtained here.
For anyone, undergoing surgery of any kind for health issues is the last thing that they would want to resort to. For snoring people, this is something many would call as really serious but just like the common advice to us, if you don’t do the necessary precautions to avoid a problem such as snoring from worsening; chances are you are heading towards advanced medical help. To some, snoring may not be that serious of an issue. It stems from fatigue and lack of sleep. But evaluate yourself even more and you may find something more serious than these things. Remember that when it comes to finding something wrong with your health, it may include other areas such as your heart and your respiratory system. Snoring is something that comes out due to something you did wrong. It occurs if you have gone above your limits and may be close to abusing your body. If that is the case, then at least there is a reason. But if you start snoring for no reason at all, better drop by your physician’s office and get to the bottom of it. It may be serious than you think. But the fact remains that snoring is serious and the we should not take it lightly. There are things we have to know about snoring and one of the important things about it is looking out after our health. Indeed, most of us get irritated by sleeping with people who snore a lot. But look beyond the irritating sound and try to guide that person to seek professional help. In the end, you may not only help cure his snoring but also saving his life to determine what is really wrong with him. Snoring can become a serious medical problem when it disturbs sleeping patterns and deprives the snorer of appropriate rest, according to Dr. Keith Aguilera, a sleep specialist and head of the Comprehensive Sleep Disorders Center at St. Luke’s Medical Center. But if they are looked upon closely, there may be other things of concern such as some health problems involved. The best way is to make visit to your physician or sleep specialist. They can more or less diagnose any health-related issue concerning the whole ordeal. While some would choose otherwise, many would be surprised at the things they would learn such as breathing problems and even higher levels of health problems is concerned. There are medications and devices that can help people cure snoring. Do not just conclude anything without the express insights of a licensed physician. The difference may be serious to your health as you would think. Experts believe there are as many as 300,000 sleep apnoea sufferers in the UK but only one fifth are diagnosed. The rest simply believe they are bad snorers. The condition causes the muscles in the throat to collapse, closing the airway and causing the sufferer to stop breathing for up to ten seconds. After the airway has closed, they “wake” and breathe deeply which produces the snoring sound.
Some may call it a mental problem but dealing with the daylight savings time that has been in effect today has some people suffering from sleep disorder issues encountering more problems. The transition from the old time to DST is really something that many deem as affecting the normal body clock of people. But then again, adjustments should be made to be able to get the proper amount of sleep. People unaware of the time adjustments to daylight savings time would normally live their usual lives. The thing with people today is that adjusting is taken in vain. Just try ignoring this adjustment and there is really low to none adjustments if people so choose to do so. Sleep can be considered a ‘change of shifts.’ There is the ‘awake’ day brain and the ‘sleeping’ night brain. The transition or ‘shift change’ from wakefulness to sleep normally takes approximately 10 to 20 minutes.

The body needs time to properly shut down the ‘awake’ brain and activate the sleep cycles.”

“Many people with sleep disorders tend to rationalize their symptoms,” says Craig. “They believe fatigue is just part of growing older. Others think they are tired all the time because they are working too hard. Sleep issues are persistently ignored. Sleep studies can help identify the problem early.”

The Restless Leg Syndrome may not be that important to most but it is really something that is a reality that a lot of people experience. “RLS can be of two types, primary and secondary. Primary RLS occurs in those born with sleep disorders, and secondary RLS is usually associated with specific medical conditions, stress and the use of certain drugs. While nearly 10 to 15 per cent of the Western population suffers from the disorder, Doctors say, in India, the number has increased from one patient a month to three to four patients a month at present, in the last five years.” Read the whole article here: Restless legs kicking away sleep? a fatigue, Health Issues, Health Issues, How to sleep better, internal_organs_of_the_human_body, medical_conditions, primary_and_secondary, restless_leg_syndrome, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Video, Sleep Video, sleep-better, sleep_disorders
a

There have been a lot of energy drinks made available in the market today. These drinks such as that of Chin Chin Vitality Boost or Red Bull are mainly used to help add boost in the active lifestyles of most athletes. However today, many people have used them as a means of being awake since most of them have caffeine which we all know is the prime enemy of sleep. While the added energy for sleep deprived people is a benefit, it cannot be discounted that most people will have to deal with sleep and fatigue at some point. It is simply something that is only a temporary resort and people should be aware of it. This is a clear abuse of health. While it is okay to consume them from time to time, making it a habit will eventually become risky and people should be aware that the human body can take only so much.
Menopause is a common disorder that is immediately associated with women who go past their prime of reproductive proceedings. Usually, women who hit the age of 50 to 51 would be susceptible to mood swings, hot flashes and fatigue. Overall, these would be immediate symptoms of sleeping disorders. Hence, menopause having most of these symptoms would most likely be a clear state that will lead to the same sleeping disorder that women would encounter today. Snoring among women at this age is a sign of abnormalities in breathing. While they can be immediately associated with fatigue, the fact remains that it is part of the stage and process. For women who may find themselves in such a state, it would be better to seek medical evaluation. The health risks involved in such should be thoroughly evaluated and at that prime age, anything of the medical aspect may be key towards continuous healthy living.
Hold on. Just because you experience dizzy spells wherein you may want to simply drop dead at times doesn’t mean that there is something diagnostically wrong with your health. For one thing, have you asked yourself if you have gotten the proper amount of sleep? Chances are, the cause for such dizzy spells would be fatigue and abusing your body. Bodies need proper rest periods which we solicit from observing proper sleeping habits. While people have to do extended working hours and stuff, the fact remains that our bodies need a break at times. People sometimes become hard-headed. It would not matter to them if they get sick or ill. But the truth of it all, we will feel the effects of such bodily abuse. Let us just hope that once that happens, it will not be the time when sleep is the only thing prevailing over such standing issues.
Jumpy and with a lot of things in mind can be stressful. Some go to the extent of being over-fatigued but yet would not know what to do. Many find it hard to sleep if they are in this stage. This may sound weird but the truth behind it is that people who are used to being hyperactive would tend to look for the various activities that would make them click. Hence, once a person is free from doing anything and has his bed as the only object he sees, chances are he will not immediately go to sleep. A mixture of excitement and high adrenaline rush is still existent and chances are the person would still be looking for means to be doing something rather than lying back and resting his laurels. In a way, sleep deprivation stems from over-fatigue. People just can’t believe that they have done so much. This development contributes to sleep deprivation because of its mental approach, something that people in the hyperactive life know all too well.
