The Silent Alarm Clock
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung October 5th, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP Gadgets, SLEEP News, Sleep Issues.
When it is time to get up, chances are you would not want the irritating sound of a noisy alarm clock around. As much as possible, you would want to get up as fresh as you can and apparently there are some alarm clocks that do not necessarily do it that way.
The Silent Alarm clock however is an innovative gadget that is sure to negate all of this. Rather than hearing those noisy chimes or sounds that irritate you, a ring is all you would need to which will wake you up. Want to snooze? Shake you hand and it will automatically do so without the usual hitting of alarm clocks we have all been used to doing and seeing from lazy sleepers.
“Silence” is a conceptual alarm clock that will wake you up without emitting any sound. If you need to be awoken, you simply wear a special wireless rubber ring. When the designated alarm time comes, the clock will send a signal to the ring which will generate a tactile alarm. If you wish to continue your sleep, just shake your hand to activate the snooze function. As time goes on, further snoozes will be harder to generate, requiring more vigorous shaking each time.

Monitor Sleep From Home with Holter Oximeters

If you are among the people who would not want to be diagnosed and checked for sleeping disorders, here is a sleep gadget that can be an alternative that is reliable.
This device has been proven to be reliable based on a study that was presented at the 2008 American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation (AAO-HNSF) Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO, in Chicago, IL.
With the growing number of obstructive sleep apnea patients today, this can be another great alternative in trying to fight off the dreaded sleeping problem which many want to resolve without going to the sleep specialists located near their area.
Sleep apnea, which affects over 10 million Americans, with an estimated additional 10 million undiagnosed, is characterized by loud snoring interrupted by frequent episodes of totally obstructed breathing (obstructive sleep apnea). Serious episodes last more than ten seconds each and occur more than seven times per hour. Apnea patients may experience 30 to 300 such events per night. These episodes can reduce blood oxygen levels, causing the heart to pump harder.

FitBit Will Make You Live and Sleep Better
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung September 10th, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP Gadgets, Sleep Cures, Sleep Issues.
We are all aware that the key towards better health and sleep is about keeping fit. But while we may do routine workouts, keeping track of our weight seems to be a problem that most experience. In fact, not all people would take time out to tip the weighing scales and see if their routine is indeed helping.
But thanks to this new device, the FitBit Tracker, you can now monitor the progress of your fitness programs and even your sleep. Put them both together and you are directing towards a healthy life. All it needs is direction and with the FitBit Tracker by your side, you are bound to see the progress of your efforts and sweat whenever you want to.
Users can click a button on the Fitbit Tracker to get an update on calories and exercise or check on the health of their avatar. On the Web site, a box displays their weight, body mass index, calories burned and steps walked. A graph depicts a breakdown of daily activity and levels of intensity at different times of day. Another graph shows how long it took them to fall asleep, how long they slept and how many times they woke up. A chart depicts how close they are to their pre-set goals and how many more calories they can consume or need to burn to get there. A social networking component lets users form groups with friends to compete with one another or cheer one another on.
The gadget will be available for pre-order in September and will ship early next year. It costs $99 and the Web site is free to use. Mr. Park plans to add a premium subscription feature in the future, which would charge users for personalized nutrition and fitness plans and coaching.

Turning off the Light Sources from Gadgets Help You Sleep
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung August 5th, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues.
Some people leave certain gadgets on and we all know that one small light source will always be visualized and these can be a source of distraction. While this can be a means to know where your gadgets are at, they will not go anywhere. Especially if you are in your room, you are sure to see them before and after you sleep. But the thing to be stressed here is SLEEP!
Regardless of how small that light indicator is, here is a good device to warn you and serve as a finder on where it may be. Just remember, you don’t need them when you sleep. You need to eliminate the light sources so you can be able sleep properly and enjoy them when it is time to get up.
Displayed is a LED-illuminated wireless router. LEDs can be useful indicators of what state a gadget it is in — or where to find it — but they also bug people who’d rather not have lights shining in their faces when they’re trying to sleep or watch movies.

The Anti-Sleep Driving Alarm
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung May 19th, 2008 in SLEEP Gadgets, SLEEP News, Sleep Cures.
Here is something for people who have to stay awake for longer periods. The Anti-Sleep Driving Alarm is designed in a way to be able to help you fight off that drowsy period and avoid possible accidents when you are the road. This is also a good device to use for people who stay up late either working or playing games so that their attentiveness will not change.
This little gadget is meant to sit on your ear and when your head tilts forward more than 30 degrees, when that happens a high pitched alarm will sound in your ear. My problem would be that I tend to fidget a great deal when I’m tired, so I’d end up setting it off every five minutes.
Also, Think Geek suggests it for those all night gamers. You wouldn’t want to nod off in the middle of a boss fight. It is being sold for $14.99.
