Sleeping disorders among kids seems to be rampantly growing and while parents exhaust all means by scolding them or even resorting to tactics like warm milk or implementing a strict monitoring to regulate their sleep patterns, parents may want to consider counseling as well. This was of course a result of a study that was conducted, which went as far as improving the academics of kids all thanks to better sleep. Parents may be too proud to seek professional help but sleep-related problems among kids is now pretty much common. Quach and his colleagues surveyed about 1,500 parents of kids starting at 22 different elementary schools in Melbourne. Of these parents, 161 said their child had a moderate or severe sleeping problem and 108 were recruited for the study. Kids with more serious sleep-related breathing problems, for instance, were excluded. This and of course some of the distractions like games or even gadgets could spell a big difference as far as helping kids sleep better. Also, it could help them lead healthier lives and perform better in school.
We all know that providing necessary recreation and entertainment are important in setting the right ambiance and to keep our kids away from potential vices like staying out late but you have to know where to draw the line.

The presence of a television or computer pose as a sleep obstacle considering kids may be tempted to watch TV or use their computer to play games and log on the Internet. But as a whole, the matter of knowing when to stop is a problem for kids these days.

So unless you want your kids to join the growing number of insomniacs and sleep deprived people in the world today, think twice on where you put the television set and the family computer for health reasons.

Normally, games and special events are supposed to keep you up and about. But dozing off at some point cannot be avoided, even at lively events. But such a scenario is indeed rare to occur and from all indications, it would be best to stay awake or become the laughing stock or center of attention rather than the game. The worst part of it all is that a person who may not be aware of what is going on might find himself being the focus of attention. Now that would really be embarrassing!
