There is no better way to get good sleep other than getting a good mattress. And while there are many people who take the liberty of doing reviews, commercials are a good way to determine just how good these mattresses come. Like the Comforta Mattresses, one can reportedly sleep like a baby, something that many long for. With a tagline “Sleep like it used to be”, the curiosity of people on how good a mattress it is will surely spark something. And what better way to show off that moniker other than to use an actual child sleeping like an angel on it. To make the whole advertising initiative catchy, they dress the babies in oversized clothing with books and other grownup stuff on the side too. This Comforta Mattresses campaign may thus appeal most significantly to young exhausted parents in desperate need of some sound shut-eye. CUTE! Credit goes to designer Stefan Ulrich for coming up with the Funktionide Body Pillow, something that aims to enhance social interaction while also mimicking human-like breathing patterns. The body pillow is great for people who may be depressed due to isolation and loneliness. Such is a factor for getting good sleep but hopefully, this technologically enhanced product will be able to help the sleep deprived individuals today. German designer Stefan Ulrich designed the pillow as part of his graduate thesis and he claims it provides users “with an atmosphere of presence, thus counteracting the feeling of loneliness.” Via a atmosphere, body pillow, breathing patterns, german designer, good sleep, graduate thesis, How to sleep better, isolation, loneliness, Pillows, presence, snuggling, social interaction, stefan ulrich
a

Sleep monitors are normally known to come in small devices, externally to make sure you don’t feel invaded as far as getting good sleep is concerned. Without obstructions, hard luck people who need all the help they can get would do well having a sleep monitoring device far from them. But it looks like technology has done it again, coming up with a sleep shirt that practically does the same things. The Somnus Sleep Shirt features two sensors that keep track of an individual’s overnight breathing and in turn transmits it to a small data recorder which should help analyze the sleep problems people have to deal with. Co-inventor Matt Bianchi, a sleep neurologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, thinks the Somnus could help patients suffering from insomnia, who often have difficulty determining how much shuteye they actually get. We mostly turn to our portable media players for help on this but in case you aren’t at east with them, shift to the big time with these Tornado Music Headboards. These are high-tech headrests that come with two built-in speakers. Rather than confine yourself to earphones, this is an audio system that allows you to plug in your iPod, MP3, television or computer to enjoy a surround-sound theatre experience. Of course this is with the understanding that you would turn to soft music to get some shuteye. If you happen to be a rocker or a person who loves loud music, this is something that will keep you awake and lively rather than rest you up for some good sleep.
Milk is identified as a good means of getting good sleep but this German-based milk may go to the next level by aiding Insomniacs as well. A German Company has patented a nocturnal milk which reportedly contains levels of the sleep hormone melatonin that are 25 times higher than that found in normal milk. Scientific studies have shown that milk taken from cows at night contains much higher levels of melatonin than milk produced during the day. Melatonin helps to regulate the biorhythm of all mammals at night. So now, it looks like companies are milking more cows at night due to this development. In fact, Munich’s Milchkristalle GmbH has started milking its animals in night-time conditions between the hours of two and 4am. Seamus Sanders, 47, had to deal with the problem for 6 years of sleepless nights. Only until 2006 when he underwent gastric bypass did was he able to finally get some decent shuteye. Seems like we better watch out weight. There are other problems that may come in the way, choking of which is due to the bulge. While I try hard to determine why, I can point out to their soothing relaxation as perhaps the culprit since we all know how relaxing it can get with the proper application and use of some beauty products in the market today. And there seems to be some collaboration on what these beauty products are targeting. Skin repair is thought of as one and of course the aroma which can really cast a spell and make you sleep in a snap.
Though we haven’t seen any concrete proof on how we can benefit from proper sleep as far as our memory is concerned, it seems that this logic is going to be backed up soon with this new discovery by Rutgers University, Newark and Collége de France, Paris research team. It seems that they have scored a major breakthrough discovering a mechanism that is responsible for associating sleep with memory formation. Normally, we address it to the time of sleep. Other than that, no clear evidence exists. But now it looks like the said research teams outdid themselves. They have determined that short transient brain events, called “sharp wave ripples,” are responsible for consolidating memory and transferring the learned information from the hippocampus to the neocortex, where long-term memories are stored. With this development, a lot of unanswered questions now become clearer. Rest and good sleep is one thing. But the memory formation to benefit from it seems to be more important as far as tying up the learning factor is concerned.
The never-ending story behind the real cause of death of Michael Jackson continues. Sleeping aids were said to be the reason and while many presumed that it was a mild case of overdose, new evidence shows it was way beyond that. And according to the Washington post, the sleep aid was Propofol. What the heck is Propofol? Propofol, also known as Diprivan, is an IV anesthetic agent typically used in operating rooms to put patients to sleep in about a minute. In drip form, it keeps them asleep. It’s reserved for procedures where a patient would otherwise be uncomfortable — say, plastic surgery, a colonoscopy or hip replacement — but must be meticulously monitored because the drug can stop a person’s breathing. Propofol is fairly easy for a doctor to acquire, but is never intended for home use, where proper equipment to resuscitate a patient is typically absent We are all aware of the sleeping problems of Michael Jackson and how extreme he could get just to get some good sleep. And so now the question remains, did Michael Jackson want it or did his physician purposely give it to hear the end of Michael’s continued complaint about his sleep … Continue reading →
a

And according to the Washington post, the sleep aid was Propofol.

What the heck is Propofol?

For now, all eyes are on his physician, Conrad Murray who has been treating Jackson’s Insomnia problem. He claimed that he feared Michael was growing addicted to it, referring to it as milk. If he knew this from the start, then why didn’t he stop it? Well, it looks like Dr. Murray is in a very deep hole!

As far as sleep is concerned, it is always better to sleep with someone by your side. At least that is what these studies try to convey to us as they compare the life of a single woman to a married one and how a good marital relationship can produce good sleep. When it comes to the difference between single and married, a lot of things come into mind. One factor is that of the security issue. Single women often have a lot of things in their mind though not necessarily marriage. They are normally the career women who would endlessly think of issues such as business thus making them unstable when sleeping. Also, the transition of single women to marriage becomes an issue as well. Adjusting to having someone beside them may not necessarily be as easy and thus contributes to the sleeping soundly problem. For relationships, it is common sense in thinking that couples who have problems are at odds and may be encountering a silent psychological warfare when in bed. Something like is there something to discuss or hiding things from the other cannot be discounted.

So when you put one and one, it is apparent that you have a lot of things in mind thus depriving you of sleep.

The data from both studies suggest that sleep and relationship happiness are closely linked. The lesson for couples, especially those who are struggling with problems, is that paying attention to sleep habits may help solve other issues in the relationship. Dr. Hasler said couples should work to resolve problems before bedtime and avoid discussing difficult topics when one or both have not slept well.

Good sleep has been a casualty of modern lifestyles. It’s little wonder that more and more people are suffering from sleep disorders and the poor health associated with it. We Arabs, just like Spaniards and Italians and other Mediterranean countries, used to make the siesta a sacred part of our day. What a shame the habit is being weeded out of our culture.

The reason for this is would foregoing sleep in times of hunger possibly lead to other health problems like ulcers? Losing weight is one thing but affecting the other health concerns is another. Work output is gravely affected, costing the Canadian economy millions of dollars from lackadaisical output and it seems that unless such an issue is addressed, these losses will evidently show in the operating performance figures of most businesses situated there today. Direct costs included $191.2 million for doctors’ visits, $36.6 million for transportation to and from these visits, $16.5 million for prescription drugs, $1.8 million for over-the-counter remedies, and a whopping $339.8 million for alcohol used as a sleep aid. Eight percent of individuals in the study, average age almost 44 and 60 percent female, reported having used alcohol to fall asleep, including 28 percent of those with insomnia symptoms or syndrome. It is also the month where most people are slowing down, feeling lazy and most of all looking for sleep. In a nutshell, it is like saying that December is vacation month. Lesser work days for some, and many trying to get ready for their corporate and private Christmas parties, the holiday season seems like the month where you will be booked with parties and events. For the employees and workers, it is the time where you can perhaps sleep better not only because of the festive mood but because of the climate as well. For the freelancers, it may be a difficult experience considering that no work means no pay. So depending on how you look at it, December is the toughest month to combat sleep.
At first glance, these caps may seem nothing less than the ordinary baseball caps we see people wearing in the streets. But take a look close and you will see that outside that design, it also includes eye shades that drop down to block light to the eyes.

It is a good gift to give to the sleep deprived people of today, particularly the ones who get irritated easily by light through their eyes. So if you want something useful to give to the people who are having sleep problems and issues, the NapCaps is definitely the perfect one to give.

NapCap is a baseball style cap with a revolutionary, patent pending design that includes and eye shade that drops down over the users eyes to enhance the ability to take a nap. There are 2 versions available; one with a NapCap logo and blank caps that can be personalized for the user.

We have heard that to get good sleep, good pillows and the right scent or aroma can certainly lull is to sleep. Hence why not get them all in one pillow where all you have to do is lie down with them in hand? The dream pillow is typically an all-cotton, crescent-moon shaped pillow filled with different herbs, such as chamomile, lavender, roses, rosemary, hops and Mugwort to help relax and soothe the nervous system by calming stress. Hops is usually the most common herb in a sleep pillow. Some homemade pillows are made using a four-by-four-inch square of stitched muslin or lace or an antique handkerchief containing a separate gathered sack of herbal combinations. Maybe a dream pillow is all that we need to fend off the sleeping problems we all have to address. Rather than take them individually, why not get a one package design and sleep easy and healthily?
Apparently, parenting can be a nuisance if you don’t know how to handle your kids and get them to bed on time. Especially if they have these distractions such as computer games, gadgets or even have friends over, chances are even you may lose sleep with all the racket that they may be making. So how do you deal with them? The key is to set some rules when its time to hit the sack. No playing of games or even placing them outside the room towards a neutral place in your home would be nice. Also, the usual lights out can always do the trick as kids constrained in the dark can force them to sleep as they have nothing else to do to distract them. Some kids may have nightmares from trauma from these practices. But you can do some things to turn them into dreams. Just set your rules and stand by them. It may be hard for parents with soft-hearts but health and good sleep is bound to be the best result to negate all of it.
Ashlee Simpson seems to be to engrossed or perhaps gotten used to having stuffed toys by her side these days. Pregnant and expecting her first child soon, Simpson has had a preference for having these stuffed bears around to get good sleep. Can you imagine a bed full of these teddy bears? We all know that pregnancy is quite a sensitive stage. For one thing, women have certain preferences when it comes to food and sleeping preferences. So as far as why Ashlee Simpson loves these stuffed bears a lot should not really be surprising. To each her own! Ashlee Simpson can’t sleep without her cuddly toys.

Acupressure boasts of a biomedical device called the Dreamkeeper 400 that relies largely on acupressure techniques, stimulating the median nerves on the inside of the wrist through electrostatic pulses and adjustable vibration. So for all the sleep deprived and insomnia-riddled people out there, this may be the solution that you have long been looking for. A better alternative than the risky sleeping pills such as Ambien. The digital Aculife Magnetic Wave Therapist claims to bridge ancient Chinese medicine with modern technology by digitally locating your so-called acupoints so you can apply a “small amount of electricity” accordingly.
One of the things that irritate babies these days would be diaper rashes and when they are full. While that is a given, one thing you can do is to help soothe the skin irritation normally caused by the materials used in traditional diapers today. Stuk on U has launched an organic line of Sleep-n-Play Rompers that will not only make it comfortable for baby but for the environment as well. Most of all, they can sleep better without any itch that annoys and forces them to belch out at night that deprives them of good sleep. Stuk on U’s original sleep-n-play wear keeps baby’s chest covered during diaper changes and means no more fumbling in the dark with snaps, which are too easy to skip, or zippers that pinch. Stuk on U rompers also are ideal for caregivers or grandparents who need a snap- and zipper-free way to dress little ones. The Velcro(R) used on all Stuk on U designs is smooth and gentle and the patent-pending design keeps closures from touching baby’s skin. While you long to have that special someone to sleep with, once proper sleeping positions or habits may not always be easy to understand. Once this happens, people can always turn to compromises so that they don’t end up cursing each other or even sleeping separately. Actually sleeping in separate beds or rooms is a common practice to get good sleep. But if a compromise or even help for such would be a good way to resolve the issue. It all depends on how willing couples are so they can both get proper sleep.
Sleep has a lot of benefits. Aside from the usual rest that most people long for, it also has its share of contributing towards people who undertake strenuous exercises such as sports and body building. Hence, while you are counting your calories, it would be best to see the power that sleep can bring as far as pulling the overall power back to normal. Apparently factors such as proper sleeping hours and the bed we lay on are relevant. We are often told to get some rest. Now on how to analyze and go about it is another thing. We just have to think practical. Sleep helps your body heal. It’s really the only time your muscles can completely rest and recover. There are a ton of studies linking sleep with healing. They show that, among other things, human growth hormone and melatonin, both of which play a big role in tissue recovery and immunity, are produced during sleep. So if you’re not getting good sleep-whether it’s due to pain, anxiety, fear or whatever-you’re not giving your muscles, especially your back muscles, time to rejuvenate themselves for the next day’s activities. Businesses are faltering one after the other and for the modern businessman, unless you act quickly, chances are you will lose a lot of things including sleep. The key towards good sleep is to be able to lay on your comfy bed without much to think about. But today, this is a rarity for the breadwinners as we enter an age where financial incapacity pushes us to act further.
