Similar to cooking or baking, people are often advised to get the proper amount of sleep which is usually 8 hours. Going less than this will have adverse effects on health and the whole system of an individual such as poor production at work or gearing towards becoming sick due to lack of rest. On the other hand, going above the usual 8 hour sleep can drive a person to become lazy and groggy, making them walking a thin line of health and keeping up with their profession. We all know that some people make the most of their time and sleep is something that they have to sacrifice. But for the recommended hours of sleep, it only remains that there is a reason for it. There should be not more or less sleep for people. The task may indeed look hard for the normal Tao. But being productive goes way beyond sleeping and people know at the back of their minds, how much the proper sleep should be for them today.
Call it enthusiasm and excitement whenever a yuppie would get his hands on the latest gizmos or gadgets such as an iPod or a Wii. Sleep will surely be foregone since the important thing above all is to explore extensively these gadgets until they get the hang of it.Hence, “Junk Sleep” is the product of such foregone sleeping patterns. Instead of getting the required 8 hours of sleep, kids ranging between 12 to 16 would usually make do with 4 to 7 hours of sleep, way beyond the necessary respite that bodies and brains would need. The result is of course obvious. Lack of sleep means waking up groggy and having to combine the senses and make sure that they still have sanity and awareness when they are awake. The Edinburgh Sleep Centre’s Dr Chris Idzikowski warned: “This is an incredibly worrying trend. What we are seeing is the emergence of ‘Junk Sleep’ – that is sleep that is of neither the length nor quality that it should be in order to feed the brain with the rest it needs.
The best climate for people to enjoy sleep is perhaps when they have nothing to do due to some natural limitations such as rains and storms. In these cases, people would usually find themselves in their homes left with little things to do. Among them include that of being groggy and ending up simply want to get some sleep even for some short spells. A lazy resort for sure, but given the circumstances, people are really left with limited options. Cold climates will surely make any person groggy. Who wouldn’t? Anyone would want the best atmospheric setup possible and rains bring in the cold spells anyone can simply sleep along with. Hopefully though people do not forget that being left idle would mean less production and their professional careers may end up being left in the dark.
