Milk is identified as a good means of getting good sleep but this German-based milk may go to the next level by aiding Insomniacs as well. A German Company has patented a nocturnal milk which reportedly contains levels of the sleep hormone melatonin that are 25 times higher than that found in normal milk. Scientific studies have shown that milk taken from cows at night contains much higher levels of melatonin than milk produced during the day. Melatonin helps to regulate the biorhythm of all mammals at night. So now, it looks like companies are milking more cows at night due to this development. In fact, Munich’s Milchkristalle GmbH has started milking its animals in night-time conditions between the hours of two and 4am. There are normally Chinese herbs that are for anything but mostly on a healthy aspect. Green Tea for one has been known as an anti-oxidant and from the looks of it, there is bound to be one Chinese medicine made for the sleep-deprived individuals. There is actually an approach for Insomniacs with the “Calm the Shen”. “Shen” is best translated as the spirit of the person in a nonreligious sense. When evaluating Shen, the Chinese Medicine practitioner is looking for the emotional state and presence (or lack) of radiance, calm, and balance. Often with sleep disturbances, the patient will be experiencing patterns of stress, anxiety, or agitation. Chinese Medicine would call this “disturbed shen.” Care to try it? First, it helps quiet down the rapid, incessant thinking which interferes with the process of falling asleep.
Sleep issues are becoming weirder by the second. We heard of the issue about sleep emailing which sound pretty weird and now we have sleep-eating. By sleep-eating, we are referring to people who eat something while they are actually asleep. However all of these were made possible thanks to sleeping drugs that some people may take. We have heard of side-effects but this one is really something that many should take seriously, particularly the sleep deprived and insomniacs. The pharmacologists note that Zolpidem’s ability to stimulate the frontal lobe of the brain, particularly in the semicomatose state, may be responsible for its adverse effects like sleep-walking or other activity while asleep, such as driving, making phone calls or having sex, with no memory of doing any of it. Sleep issues grow weirder by the day and this one is so far has been the craziest! These changes in light are guides to help you breathe in and breathe out. Apparently that is the concept of relaxing a person; through breathing techniques.
Most insomniacs have surely tried out the various sleeping pills that they intake to help them sleep. Ambien, a sleep aid has been known to provide some sort of help for the insomnia-riddled people and it seems that there is a new type of sleep-enhancing product, an oral spray called Zolpimist from Nova Del Pharma Inc., which was recently granted approval for its supposed short-term treatment to the people suffering from insomnia. How does this oral spray work? Zolpimist is an oral spray that contains zolpidem tartrate, the same active ingredient found in the widely used prescription sleep aid Ambien. The substance is absorbed through the oral mucosa directly into systemic circulation. According to NovaDel, the most commonly observed side effects in clinical trials were headache, sleepiness and dizziness. So if you are tired of the usual sleeping aids and pills, this can be a good alternative that will be worth trying out. You can get more information at their website here.
One thing about Insomnia is that your eyes are bound to be the receiving end. Often, you will see insomniacs having a hard time sleeping and with their bulging eye bags, the need to treat them and lessen the strain that they bring is a need.

Eyessuese helps remedy these eye issues. You have the choice of air pressure, heat, vibration or magnetic therapy, and the Eyesseuse lets you either manually control the session or let a scientifically preset massage go to work for you. You’ll feel more relaxed, more alert and more attractive.

Eyesseuse Eye Spa Features:

•	Reduces eye fatigue, caused by extensive use of computers, long periods of driving, studying and reading.
•	Helps people who suffer from Insomnia by allowing a deep state of relaxation that allows for a restful night’s sleep.
•	Nourishes skin while operating.
•	Utilizes Infared heating, Vibration, Air pressure massage, and magnetic therapy.
•	The massaging portion reduces swollen or puffy eyes along with dark rings caused by poor blood circulation
•	AC adapter and 4 AA batteries included.

Though the name may be different, it is still the same old sleeping drug Lunesta that has been named differently once it is approved for distribution in Europe. Sepracor is reportedly planning to penetrate the Europe market to help insomniacs residing here. However, Lunesta is already a familiar brand and perhaps changing it catered towards the Europeans can help ease the impressions that some have seen as negative due to some issues. The Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use gave a “positive opinion” on the drug, which Sepracor (nasdaq: SEPR – news – people ) wants to market in Europe under the name Lunivia. CHMP makes recommendations to the European Medicines Agency, which approves or rejects the applications. The approval for Lunivia is still in process and once it does, don’t be surprised if you hear of a new sleeping drug in the market. It is something that is already familiar to you. Placing emphasis on the various issues that are plaguing sleep deprived individuals today, a visit to this sleep center can most likely be the answer to all your sleep problems. “SleepBetter.org is the go-to resource for fun and engaging science-based tools, tips and information to help anyone get better sleep,” explains Dan Schecter, vice president for Carpenter Co.’s Consumer Products Division. “The site is one step in our journey to educate consumers about all they can do to sleep better – and ultimately enhance their quality of life.
We all know that thinking too much may eventually result into sleepless nights. At the rate that everything is going up these days, the only thing that perhaps is remaining is to see our salaries and daily pay go up. Now that is something to ponder on. But while we can wait all we want, thinking and even dreaming of when that would be, sleeping better is the least thing we can do. Another thing that contributes to the growing number of insomniacs is that more people are now trying to get a second job. There is the traditional 8 to 5 job and hence getting another one will surely penetrate our required number of sleep. So if you get a second job for income, chances are you may not be close to the usual 8 hours of sleep. With coffee to keep you awake, you may say it is a temporary setup. But once you finally get your back to normal (assuming inflation is out), your next step would be to see a specialist. Now you have to address you sleep problem and likewise get yourself sleeping back to normal. It seems all these things will never cease.

Being taught how to sleep may affect some egos and make people ignore it. The goal of this workshop is to help people and not ridicule them. All it takes is a couple of hours of listening to fully understand what they are up against and what health risks may be involved.

“One of the pillars of what I’m teaching is the concept of being able to transition out of your day body and mind into a body and mind more positively prepared for a night of deep sleep,” he says. “We’re throwing ourselves into bed and hoping that we’ll relax and get to sleep.”

“The strongest propaganda that insomnia has going for it is that a lot of people think it’s a disease or an illness,” says de Stefano, 52. “Our answer has been to take a pill, but you can’t force or will sleep; you have to lure it. As the title (of the workshop) goes, you seduce it.”

Here are some common myths of sleeping and insomnia. We may or may not agree with them but they are apparently related to how we perceive and understand sleep as a whole.

Humans Need Eight Hours Sleep a Night: There are many ways of sleeping and few cultures sleep in eight-hour consolidated blocks like we do. In places like Bali and New Guinea, people tend to slip in and out of sleep as they need it, napping more during the day, and getting up more at night.

Sleep Isn’t Just a Bodily Function: Sleep is a biological, physiological system, akin to the cardiovascular system, the nervous system and so on.

Animals Don’t Have Sleep Problems: Insomnia occurs in animals and insects, too, sort of. Technically, insomnia is defined as a “complaint,” and since animals can’t complain, it’s difficult to measure in them

Falling Asleep Is a Gradual Process. Nope. Instead, for most people, it switches on and off like a light switch. But for insomniacs and narcoleptics, the switch doesn’t quite work.

Sleeping Less Burns More Calories. In the short term, yes, but sleeping less probably won’t help you lose weight. Lack of sleep suppresses our natural appetite-depressants, while fueling appetite-increasers, often leading to weight gain.

Apparently, they may sound too basic but they do have a great bearing on why sleep-deprived people are finding sleepless nights to go by. The next time you go to bed, consider these things. Sometimes it all boils down to routine. Changing some of them may eventually lead to better sleep and of course better health and living. 1. Setting a Bright Alarm Clock The looming glare of your alarm clock can be distracting when trying to sleep. The goal is to have as dark a room as possible.

1. Setting a Bright Alarm Clock
The looming glare of your alarm clock can be distracting when trying to sleep. The goal is to have as dark a room as possible. Block the bright numbers with a book or consider buying a small travel clock. Your cell phone alarm may also do the trick.

2. Counting Sheep
If you’ve been trying to fall asleep for more than 30 minutes, the National Sleep Foundation suggests doing something mundane, like balancing a checkbook, reading or watching TV. An activity that demands marginal brainpower will lull your mind. Before you know it, you’ll be crawling back into bed genuinely tired.

3. Exercising Late at Night
Daytime workouts will keep you invigorated for hours. That’s why you don’t want to exercise within three hours of hitting the sack. Intense physical activity raises your body temperature and pumps your energy level—both interrupt a calm transition into sleep.

We have all heard of insomnia stemming from certain issues that include the area of excessive thinking or conditioning ourselves towards too much work. But based on this study, studies show that people getting higher education and knowledge seems to favor women more over men when it comes to getting sleep and avoiding the insomnia issues. We all know that women have their share of being insomniacs but it really seems weird why this study of sleep showed such results. But it seems it all depends on how they carry themselves both inside and outside. (Source) The findings applied to both sexes. The rates of insomnia were found to be “still significantly higher” among women, who averaged 1.22 more points on the insomnia scale than men. “Social factors undoubtedly play their part,” they said. Sex differences in insomnia score were most noticeable for divorced or separated women. “Stress linked to single parenting, low income, or stigma of a marriage break-down could all be possible factors,” they said.

The team also found that unemployment exerted a greater impact on women’s sleep quality, particularly among the married women. “Sex discrimination in the workplace and childcare responsibilities might account for this.”
