A lot of apps that have something to do with sleep have certainly come out thus far and now we find yet another one for the people who want to measure their sleep quality. This is the Sleep Time app from Azumio, something that can be used with an iPhone. The app measures a person’s movement during sleep as well as the different phases of one’s sleep cycle. Apparently, the app was created to wake a person at the right moment, something that seems to be pretty much critical when it comes to sleep-related issues. The proper timing of waking up a person is apparently critical, especially if you think about how good or groggy they become when they get up. Sleep Time analyzes your subtle movements throughout the course of the night, graphing your sleep cycles, and wakes you up at the right time. All you have to do is leave the app on your mattress.
We have seen a lot of gadgets used here and there to help monitor babies but if you have an Apple device like perhaps an iPhone or an iPad, here is something that should come in handy. This comes in the form of the Withings Smart Baby Monitor. The monitor includes a camera and sensors that detect sound, movement, temperature and humidity levels. The monitor’s hinged design allows its wide-angle 3-megapixel camera to be tilted or swiveled into place when being set up. That camera automatically switches on its infrared LEDs when the light gets dim, enabling its night vision function, plus it has a 4X zoom that lets users get a closer look at their infant. The baby monitor should be helpful for parents who want to gain a piece of mind as far as their tots are concerned. It is available from their website for about $299. With the aid of an iPhone, all you need is the Lark Wristband and then you can hook it up to serve as an alarm clock, a sleep coach and a sleep monitor. All these things were made possible through a micromotion sleep pattern sensor and makes use of a data tracking method called actigraphy to help measure people’s sleep patterns to reportedly about 85 to 95 percent accuracy. All one has to do is download the Lark Up app from the iTunes store and the band’s hardware will automatically connect with your phone and update your sleeping habits onto your phone every morning Via a accuracy, alarm clock, Alarm Clocks, coach, iphone, lark, sleep, SLEEP Gadgets, sleep patterns, sleep problems, sleeping habits, wristband
a

And for the GEAR4 Renew Sleepclock, it goes way beyond simply going off and pulling you out of bed. The device also comes with a feature which measures your sleep and get you out of bed in a timely manner. Of course you will need an Apple device like an iPod, iPhone or an iPad too. The device stands to educate one on sleep efficiency, helping you understand and adjust your sleep habits so that you are then able to chart out your sleep data over time in order to sleep better.
Hey sleep deprived folks, here is another gadget that should help you out. With all the hype about Siri and the iPhone 4S, here is something that should come in handy for people wanting to monitor their sleep patterns even closely. This is the Renew iPhone Sleep Clock, a device that can monitor your breathing and movements while you are in lala land. It collects the necessary data for your sleep cycle which should come in handy to help diagnose and remedy what exactly is wrong as far as your sleep issues are concerned. You can review data about how long you are spending in light and heavy (REM) sleep phases – getting a lot of sleep doesn’t always mean you’re getting good rest if your REM phases are short. It’s even possible to have the SleepClock wake you up during your lightest phase of sleep, so you feel more well-rested. If the Renew iPhone Sleep Clock interests you, it is available from Gear4 for $200.

Apparently, users have to shake it to shut off the alarm. And mind you, this shouldn’t be just any ordinary shake. You have to shake it as convincingly as you can until the app believes that you are truly up. If not, expect annoying sounds such as an evil laugh or a hungry bear to keep on sounding off to keep on bugging you until you are really awake. The app is available for free over at the iTunes app store although you can get a premium version that costs only $0.99 which comes with more libraries of alarm sounds. However, if getting you up cannot do the trick, maybe something that would embarrass you will. With the OKITE app for the iPhone, hitting the snooze button may prove to be costly on your end. Particularly for the people who are into Twitter, the app is linked to your account and will start creating embarrassing messages each time you hit the snooze button on your phone. The app is free and is practically in the same alarm format as the iPhone alarm.
Alarms via iPhones is nothing new but something different seems to be intended if you constantly hit the snooze option for this iPhone app. The alarm app apparently donates a quarter each time you hit the snooze option in the Snooze for iPhone app. And mind you, this is not a forced contribution but rather asks you twice in a month which non-profit organization you would want to donate, that is if you would care. The app seems to be more of a reminder on how we can do our part to donate to charitable institutions. The app acts more of a reminder that the more we snooze, the more we should be made aware of what we can contribute when we are awake. Although the app may seem to be something that could help us sleep more as long as we do our part as far as donations are concerned, it may have consequences as sleeping longer and probably going to school or work late despite being bugged by reminders on donating. The app is cool for added sleep but as far as the donation part is concerned, it seems to lack something to really make it effective. In fact, some have grown too attached to these gadgets that they end up sleeping (that is if they do) with them since they don’t want to lose sight of them. Further, these gadgets are eventually a problem as far as hindering proper sleep since a text or call can easily get a person up from deep slumber. But is this development safe? Psychologists believe that it may not be harmful (with reference to radiation concerns) to a person physically but mentally as well since people may end up loving their phones rather than a human being. An instance is sleeping with the iPhone which for all intents and purposes shows a sign of being too attached to the said device rather than cuddling up with your partner. Indeed, many of us have become too attached and obsessed with the technological gifts such as the iPhone. This is the Jawbone UP, a wrist-worn sensor bracelet that aims to help track movement and sleep patterns with the aid of a special app. The bracelet comes with an array of sensors that may include an accelerometer along with a battery inside the water-proofed housing. They come in blue and pink color schemes and can be connected through an iPhone. The app works by monitoring a person’s movement and then works with an open platform. Somewhat similar to some gadgets from Nike, the Jawbone UP will be out later this year with prices and actual launch date yet to be made official.
The Sleeptracker watch is something you may have heard before but just the same, this is one great alternative device to help out people when it comes to diagnosing their sleep troubles. The Sleeptracker Pro Elite Watch costs around $180 and is a great gadget to have over the other ones coming out in the market. It has been around for some years now and has served its purpose. There are other devices such as the Lark, which makes use of a vibrating system to wake you up, and an iPhone app called the Sleep Cycle app to monitor a person’s sleep cycle. However, the Sleeptracker watch is as simple and functional as it gets. It looks like any other watch you may put on your wrist and it does buckle down to work each time you get some shuteye. And with Father’s Day days away, it can be a cool gift to hand out if you have that much dough in your wallet.
With the growing rate of people suffering from sleep apnea, here is another app for your Apple device that could come in handy. It called the Sleep Cycle iOS app, something that should help monitor a person’s sleep patterns all throughout the night and wakes you up in the lightest sleep phase. The app can register up to 4 days of sleep patterns which should help you evaluate and improve your waking patterns. But this also means keeping your iPhone powered on all night and placed on your bed upside down. The app will make use of the proximity sensors of the device to turn off the display. The App also gives you a report of your sleep patterns over the period of use of the app. With this you can monitor your sleep time and deep sleep patterns. Worse, Gasol had a bad game in their embarrassing loss to the Memphis Grizzlies which can be easily attributed to waking up at the wrong time and panicking to make it to the game.
By now you may have read of the iPhone glitch which pointed to alarms failing to alert or awaken people on New Year’s Day. While it does seem a bit sheepish to rely on the iPhone to keep you up to date, some people who have grown fond and reliant on the Apple device find themselves complaining about a so-called glitch which has become a big issue these days. The iPhone 4 has been receiving numerous complaints because of the issue as Twitter and Facebook have been getting hordes of complaints from the said problem. And the worst part of it is that no fix has yet to be issued, meaning you may want to set a standard alarm clock to wake you up on time for work or school or for whatever appointment you need to attend to for the meantime.
A new app made for the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad has been released by Marshiware with the intention of helping babies (and parents) get better sleep. The app is called Night Bliss, a new app which should help parents put their babies to sleep easier. The Night Bliss App helps by associating sights and sounds with going to sleep, it can aid in helping a baby fall asleep if the sights and sounds are consistent at bedtime. The app does this by using a slow moving animation of a sheep together with a soothing lullaby tune. Soon, the baby will associate the sheep as a bedtime companion and together with the familiar tune, it will remind the child that it time to sleep.
There is a new app for the iPhone or iPod Touch that was made to help the sleep deprived folks and it goes by the name of the Sleeping Pill 1.0. This is a new app that is said to provide people a good night’s sleep where three stages to accelerate tiredness of users are used. Stage 1 clears the mind so you can relax and free yourself to fall asleep, stage 2 helps users to relax and relieve stress. Finally stage 3 helps your eyes to tire by getting users to follow a “Z” across the device screen in a specific pattern. The app is now available at the iTunes app store for $0.99.
For the people who don’t want to invest in sleep-related machines to determine if they are suffering from sleep apnea, here is a sleep app for the iPhone which you can use. The Sleep Aid is a handy iPhone app that should help determine if you have a breathing problem. Great for snorers, this app can aid you in determining if you are lacking in oxygen or analyze your breathing patterns. It actually records the user’s snoring, and stores them each night to compare them in a graph, to see if there are any major changes in the cycles. It also contains examples of what people suffering from sleep apnea sound like when they’re sleeping, so you can compare your own against the case studies. The app is available now for only $2.99.
As most businesses turn to the use of iPhone apps to expand their line of business, a new organization has joined the fray. Known for delivering extensive sleep and relaxation, Hastens has announced their own iPhone app, the MindSpa application for the iPhone and the iPod Touch which provides auditory and visual neural brainwave entertainment with biofeedback. As you would guess, the MindSpa app is mean to help and place an individual into deep slumber in a couple of minutes. It is a neural-stimulation program that makes use of the capabilities of an iPhone or iPod Touch to measure slight changes in body movement and biorhythms. In response to these measurements, the program optimizes the visual and auditory patterns being displayed to place the user into a deep, calm state of relaxation and stress relief, in under fifteen minutes. The MindSpa app is available at the iTunes Store for download at $4.99.
Normally, you would think that the iPhone would be among the main reasons why some people are not sleeping that much these days. Gadgets have been known to deprive people of sleep mainly due to their fascination on the various uses of gadgets such as sending text messages or tinkering around with the applications installed in them. But thanks to some engineering students, the iPhone can be an ally in improving sleep. Developed by electrical and computer engineering senior Justin Beck and psychology and neurobiology senior Daniel Gartenberg, the application serves as a sophisticated alarm clock that wakes users up during the light sleep phase of their cycle, meaning they will be less groggy and more alert during the day. In the morning, users play an easy game that tests alertness, and the software then automatically reconfigures as it learns the user’s unique sleep cycle. Called Proactive Sleep, the software could be on sale in the Apple application store in the next few months.

Normally, mobile phones and gadgets which carry a watch option have an alarm option which can serve as your personal alarm clock when you need to wake up. But as for the iPhone, if you are looking for another application that can make sure your phone has one, the LCD Alarm option is something you are bound to like. Here’s a neat iPhone/iPod Touch app that turns your shiny device into a full blown alarm clock. It’s called LCD Clock and it’s available on AppStore for $0.99. Once started, the application will show very familiar user interface, mimicking good ol’ alarm clocks. You can easily flick around and check the upcoming U.S. or Japanese holidays, as well as birthdays and anniversaries. If you’re in Japan, the app can also display the “Rokuyou” calendar, which is kinda neat.
