Can People Sleep Like Babies?
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung May 15th, 2007 in How to sleep better, SLEEP Fun, SLEEP Psychology, Sleep Disorders.People who say they sleep like a baby usually don’t have one. ~Leo J. Burke

Adults and mature people would claim that they can sleep as they wish. However, it is easier to say and realize actual sleep. Some do not really realize the importance of sleep and while many people are aware of the proper sleeping habits and shuteye needed most of them forego this for one reason or another.
Ideally, sleeping like a baby is a declaration that would usually get some sort of a laugh for people. Many dream of sleeping as peaceful as possible. But the return for being able to do so is an opportunity that is lost. It is apparent that while many look forward to taking the long naps needed, waking up towards reality and adhering toward the fast pace of demands on an individual’s life is a reality that they have to face.
If a person can indeed sleep as peaceful as a baby, then perhaps people would not be roaming around and looking for best ways to actually get the proper amount of sleep and rest.

Naps are not Enough to Revitalize Bodies
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung May 14th, 2007 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, Sleep Disorders.Naps are good but they are not substitutes for people who want to make the most out of their time. Naps are defined more in terms of time as in 15 minutes or maybe an hour. But authentic sleep is on the average about 6 to 8 hours for a normal person to be able to work his way back to full strength.
Many people disregard the proper sleeping hours a person needs to take. For some, sleep is a sign of laziness. However, taken into consideration, sleep is a requirement for the human body to function properly and avoid health issues to date. The need for rest to recharge bodies is a need and people, regardless if they are on the go or not, should acknowledge its need.
A short nap may be what people will be looking for but it may not be enough. A clear indication of lacking in sleep is that of forming eye bags, skin color, and low blood cell counts. These are chief indicators and if a person is not careful, he may eventually find himself passing out unexpectedly.

Polyphasic Sleep

What is polyphasic sleep? Well, according to Wikipedia,
Polyphasic sleep is a sleep pattern intended to reduce sleep time to 2–5 hours daily. This is achieved by spreading out sleep into short naps of around 20–45 minutes throughout the day.
Facinating, isn’t it? Here’s a guy who’s trying it right now:
I’m starting this polyphasic sleep schedule today, so last night was my last night of “normal” sleep for a while. I still got up at 5am this morning, and then I’ll begin doing the naps every 4 hours starting this afternoon. I’ll use a countdown timer alarm set for 30 minutes, so I won’t oversleep. I’ve decided that my sleep times will be 1am, 5am, 9am, 1pm, 5pm, and 9pm. I aim to continue at least until Halloween… or death, whichever comes first. If it seems to be going well and I retain basic functionality, then I’ll decide whether I want to continue with it.
Remember, if you have an irregular schedule or work on and off, this polyphasic sleep might just do the trick for your sleeping.
Check out Uberman’s sleep schedule also, which seems to be a type of polyphasic sleep.
