Ever been told to “Sleep on it”? Well if you have, especially if you are troubled, it may be a good thing to take the advice fully. It seems that sleeping on painful and troublesome memories is a great solution to get over it, thanks to a study conducted by the researches over at the University of Berkeley. “During REM sleep, memories are being reactivated, put in perspective and connected and integrated, but in a state where stress neurochemicals are beneficially suppressed.” Apparently it all boils down to the dreams you get when you sleep, something that cannot evidently hurt you. To study this, researches split 35 people into two groups. They showed each the same emotion-triggering photos, then allowed one group to sleep. They showed each group the photos again. The electrical brain activity of each group was recorded with electroencephalograms (or EEG), including during sleep. Those who slept showed a decrease in activity in the amygdala, which is the part of the brain that processes emotion. Sounds neat ey? Well, the next time you break it off with your mate or are troubled for some reason, sleep on it. Maybe the dreams can ease the burden and pain … Continue reading →
a

It seems only natural that being free from stress, especially for the working class, will lead to better sleep. It makes sense considering sleep also relies on how you are psychologically stable. Relax and let the issues at work be left in the office, never bring it at home. A sense of organization for an individual as far as putting his daily duties and routines is perspective can go a long way. Sleep can be solicited from addressing all that needs to be done which can lead to a worry-free life as well. Besides, sleeping better means being more fresh when you report for work the next day. Hence, put things in priority. Do not take your work for granted and place yourself in a predicament which you may eventually be sorry for. Do your work and perform according to your job description. It will speak well as far as your job performance is concerned and also leave you sleeping better regularly.
We are all familiar with the phrase “No Sleeping on the Job” but apparently some companies are retracting this belief. For the sake of productivity, some companies allow their employees to sleep but not on their table. Companies are taking on a new lease, investing in these innvovative EnergyPods for taking naps and then return to work refreshed. Of course this may be subject to a lot of issues but knowing companies, they are bound to place some restrictions and guidelines on proper hours to get some short naps and then be more productive for the sake of overall operations. Vinayak Sudame, an engineer at the Research Triangle Park campus of Cisco, says he uses an EnergyPod to “shut my eyes and shut myself off for 10 or 15 minutes” when he is working on a problem or needs some quiet time. More than a walk or a coffee break, he says, this type of “total mental rest” helps him return to work with what he calls a “reorganized” perspective.
