Philips’ Alice PDx System has received the gold award the Best Home Sleeping System in a ceremony held last June 9 at the Medical Device & Manufacturing East 2010 Conference and Exposition in New York City.

The Alice PDx is an easy device to setup, aiming to accommodate side sleepers. A logical graphical screen assists the user in the application of the device. A separate step-by-step diagram also is included as reference. Color-coded labels located around the perimeter of the device indicate which sensors to connect and where to connect the sensor leads.

Sensor leads have been specifically designed to minimize excess length to make it easier for patients to manage them.

A Sleep Health Fair will be held on June 24 at the Zandri’s Stillwood Inn at 1074 South Colony Road, Route 5 in Wallingford, Connecticut. Harrison’s Sleep Disorder Center expanded and renovated by providing adding more capacity and adding new equipment to accommodate and resolve patient issues suffering from sleep disorders. The new look offers a more appealing setup, close to a hotel-like atmosphere, and was completed last September.

Patients are prescreened before being referred to the sleep center, to make sure a study would benefit them. Once there, they’re hooked up to a dozen or so wires, each monitoring a different parameter. The suites feature the latest in Philips Respironics sleep diagnostic technology, which provides state of the art monitoring of sleep patterns and recorded symptoms for immediate diagnoses and recommended treatment.
