But thanks to some courses, people were able to come up with radios on their own, assembling them using discarded wood and putting their electronic engineering to good use just to be able to listen to news and/or music. Today this may be a rarity but for some people, the practice lives on. And such has produced this Steampunk Cigar Box Digital Alarm clock with a lamp as well, all made from repurposed materials, including a cigar box. Other features include a 40W bulb which are controlled by a full-range center-mounted dimmer control, allowing you to use this as either a soft night-time reading lamp or a nightlight at your bedside. The digital alarm clock is embedded and are operated by controls you will find on top of it. The clock controls are acorn nuts, used to set the time/alarm minutes and seconds, and a toggle switch to enable/disable the alarm. Instructions for use come with the piece.
GEAR4 has announced that they will be coming out with a new iOS accessory called the Renew SleepClock in the U.S. by March, 2012. And while the price tag of $199 seems a bit steep, wait until you check out the features it comes with which should make it a whole lot reasonable. This includes two sensors that will monitor breathing and movement which should help log sleep cycles for people who want to monitor their sleep. The monitoring is done through a non-contact sensor which aside from monitoring will also determine when users are asleep to wake up people at the right time. Other features include a fading playlist, multiple alarm chime settings and an app that will monitor a person’s sleep patterns. With sounds from the radio, iPod playlists, or even gentle and calming sounds are all available. The Alternative Clock is another ingenious creation that can wake you up using appliances that you choose to plug in. This was all made possible for the clock with its two outlets situated on top of it. Apparently, you can plug in your blender, radio or even your television on to it which goes off once the set time to wake up has been reached. The Alternative Alarm Clock allows people to pick the sanest possible appliance or electronically plugged in device to wake you up over the traditional ringing or gongs that standard alarm clocks render.
Making use of iPods or MP3 Players as alternative alarm clocks is nothing new. However, the manner on how you would be woken up does have its differences. Such is the case for the Yamaha TSX-140 iPod Audio System which boasts of its patented IntelliAlarm feature. The IntelliAlarm feature allow users to be awoken by music on their iPod. However, rather than blasting firmly at 11 when the clock strikes way-too-early, it gradually ups the volume until your brain is alert enough to obliterate the snooze button. Aside from that, the device has an iPod Dock on the top and a USB port too. A pair of 3.5” ported bass reflex speakers are responsible for the delivery of audio. In addition to the illuminated buttons on the top panel, three front panel controls give access to source, volume, radio presets, alarm clock and equalizer functions. The ads are reminders for the elders that proper attention and care should be done for their children. This includes telling parents that babies should sleep in their own crib or bed with no pillows. Apparently this has to do something with SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. SIDS is nothing new. It is a dreaded issue that parents have to deal with as far as sleeping alongside their children. However, with the proper precautionary measures, parents may yet understand the proper directives to make sure that they are safeguarding their child as well. And fortunately, there is a great pillow that you can try out over the traditional ones. It is called the Sound Asleep Pillow. The Sound Asleep Pillow is a great invention which if you enjoy listening to music and also sleeping then you will really enjoy this. The Sound Asleep Pillow has a built in speaker which you can connect to your iPod, other MP3 players, CD players and most radios. With this you get surround sound music straight to your ears whilst you drift off to sleep or even just while you rest your eyes. If you find it hard to get to sleep this could really help having some low level music or a sound of your choice playing in the background. Another plus to this great gadget is that if you want to listen to music or the radio you can without disturbing your partner when they are asleep.
