Sharing how she suffered an accident traced all the way to lack of sleep, Huffington reiterates the importance of getting the proper amount of sleep. Apparently her talk was aimed to wake up the working class, most of which sacrifice sleep to supposedly provide some semblance of productivity in the financial aspect. Sadly, while this may hold true at times, health is something that cannot be taken for granted. And for people who do not want to learn the hard way, the best thing is to perhaps think about getting the right amount of sleep above anything else which will eventually lead to one’s improved productivity.
With a couple of days left before the Royal Wedding actually takes place, fans of the soon-to-be Royal Couple have started to camp out. These are fans who don’t want to miss a thing once Prince William and Kate Middleton exchange their royal vows, choosing to camp out for the next three nights so that they will not miss this rare opportunity. Sleeping bags and other sleep stuff that can help them be comfy are out in the streets although some are a bit worried about the weather. Some even have chairs just so they will not be boxed out from the said event. While it may seem a bit crazy, camping or sleeping out is nothing new to die-hard fans. There are people who have done it when a new gadget is set to come out so getting the best seats with such a sacrifice is certainly no big deal. The question of being able to sleep properly though seems to be questionable.
Various professions will keep you up and render you less sleep. And for photographer Tyler Shields, sleeping for 8 hours after 40 days of not sleeping is as reasonable as it gets. For the record, Shields claims that he only sleeps two nights a week and sharing his journey. This included extreme headaches and woozy from the lack of shuteye. He attracted intermittent news coverage, most recently via an October 23rd interview with AOL’s Weird News. In the end however, the question remains; up to when can Shields cope up with such a lifestyle and sacrifice sleep which is critical for a person’s well-being!
If you want to achieve a lot, let this be a warning; don’t sacrifice sleep. It is not easy for sure. Thinking of what to do or how to address a current issue, chances are you may be lying on your bed but will not be sleeping at all. Oprah Winfrey is a clear example. Outside that of a hectic schedule, her frustrations on how to address her weight problem and arrange her busy schedule is taking its toll. They are making life miserable for this popular talk show host and unless she addresses these calmly and with proper rest, she may be among the high risk people the world has today. With a crazed schedule, Winfrey began suffering sleep issues and heart palpitations. Four doctors and several prescriptions later, the sleep Winfrey craved didn’t come. But the added pounds did.
After laboring for 10 months, once mothers give birth, you have to wonder if they can now start looking forward to making up for lost sleep. Apparently this is a problem for pregnant women who need to ensure the overall health of the child they are bearing and of course themselves. Alertness and being aware of what is going on inside these 10 months is indeed tedious. Some would call it a sacrifice for the sake of bringing joy and life to the world once more. So when the child is out, can a mom sleep better? Highly unlikely considering now they have to take care of the child. Sleep deprivation starts to set in and apparently a newborn child will always look for her mother. A mother can lie down in bed. But that does not mean that they can sleep through it. For sure they will wake up ever so often and once that happens, you have to sacrifice some more; this time for putting the baby to sleep so you too can sleep! For some countries like traveling from the Philippines to the United States, there are varying differences in time like 12 hours of difference.
This issue covers most students, particularly the ones who have a problem with doing advanced studies and preparations as far as their school work is concerned. Essays and thesis papers require some time to finish and while preparatory stages are given at their convenience, kids and teens simply wait for the last minute before they even think of doing some work to avoid cramming and getting sleepless nights ahead. Cramming is a common mentality that is experienced everywhere. The usual belief is if you can sacrifice a day or two’s sleep, then you have no problem. But mind you, there are a lot of factors to consider as well such as time constraints when you cram. Further, you may not turn in quality work, something prevalent when you lack sleep since your mind needs to rest too. In the end, both efforts are deemed as futile. You don’t get decent grades and you end up sacrificing your health in the process. Unfortunately, this includes having to initially give up some sleep whenever a child wakes up in the middle of the night. Some may not be too inclined, calling it stressful but they should also consider that kids normally have to be monitored and attended to during their infant years. It is not too much to ask. The joy of having a child is indeed exciting for all.
