Workers who have to render work during the weird hours (meaning early mornings when everyone else is asleep) may be prone to a lot of issues. This of course includes sleep disorders, health issues and poor quality of work overall. Hence, for workers who feel they are suffering from shift work sleep disorder, it may be best to seek some help by visiting a physician or specialist. Other than the mentioned issues, poor sleep could lead to greater risk for motor vehicle accidents, particularly on the commute home after work, as well as reduced work efficiency, poor attention and concentration, and irritability and mood changes. The list goes on and should hence be addressed. Successful treatment of shift work disorder involves resetting the patient’s circadian rhythms so they properly match the work-sleep schedule. Consistently following several behavioral strategies is critical for treatment.
For some people, this may leave them scratching their heads. While some of the people today are aching to sleep as long as possible, studies from the University of Warwick and University College in London show that sleeping beyond the normal sleeping hours of 6 to 7 hours may be a health risk as well. Sure you will be getting the standard recharging and sanity but if we are pretty much believers in studies, then this should be something we should take notice of. But the fact that those who slept considerably more also had a statistically higher mortality rate came as something of a surprise. And the researchers are still at a loss to explain just why the health of these people are adversely affected. “But it might be that abnormal amounts of sleep are tied to conditions such as depression, and physical exhaustion due to an illness already present, such as cancer,” said professor Francesco Cappuccio at the University of Warwick.
We would normally get that feeling of wanting to step back, wanting to be momentarily inexistent from the world to be able to get a break from it all. Some would call it crazy, but for people who have been exhausted and readily maximized their times and effort for various instances, the need for long needed breaks is justified. Hence the feeling of temporarily being dead to the world for some time may be an overstatement but for people who have gone through a lot, people would surely be in need for recharging their bodies in all aspects needed, both physically and mentally. Such proclamation would be considered as exaggerated but understandable if people would take note of why such would be done. Some just burn themselves out at times and wanting to step out of the limelight and adhere towards maintaining their sanity, the need to be able to cater towards personal demand for relaxation and regeneration is an obvious needed recourse.
