Hearing about drivers falling asleep while driving is something that could befall anyone and car manufacturer Mercedes Benz is taking note. In fact it looks like they may have a solution for the drivers with their Active Comfort Concept system, something that could save more lives and provide fatigued drivers the necessary shuteye while the vehicle is parked. With the new system, drivers can get some power naps and be more alert once they are awake. This should help assure healthier and safer driving for the drowsy drivers while also providing some fuel-saving features as well. Among the different methods that the Active Comfort Concept system would bring include addressing the cabin lighting, music, massaging seats and subtle aroma, key elements that should make sure that drivers get some sleep when needed. The said system will be debuting in future MB vehicles. Unfortunately, it was not stressed for now which and if all models would actually come with the said feature. Aside from that, the hotel has a mini grocery and self-serving washing machines just in case you need to do some laundry. The hotel even has a special zone called the Leo Zone, an area designated for snorers. This ensures that other guests would not be disturbed once they are sleeping. Of course, being a sleep mask, the Own Eyes Sleep Mask was really intended to help people sleep better, adding a bit of a twist when it comes to showcasing how one would throw off their mate in a funny kind of way. They eyes are made of 2 layers of polar fleece which should offer the necessary comfort needed by people when they want to get some shuteye. The mask blocks out almost all of the light, a smidgen of light might creep in around the nose area, but not enough to be bothersome; as again that would apply too much pressure to get it that tight. These Owl Eyes Sleep Mask are available over at Etsy for about $11. But if you had one of these Shirt 2 Pillow Transformer, at least you don’t have to worry about carrying extra baggage.
For the people who find themselves wanting to get some shuteye in odd areas, the Hi-Macs Sleepbox may be something bizarre and helpful you may come across with. The Sleepbox was designed by Casper Lohner, a unique piece of furniture that comes in an odd shape that will initially put you in doubt as far as the comfortable sleeping spells you may want to endure in. The Sleepbox seems to be designed for public places. It is made of MDF fabric that is structured into an odd shape with the help of a vacuum membrane. As you will depict from the image above, comfort is pretty far off for people who want to get sensible sleep. But then again do remember that the Sleepbox was made to satisfy temporary sleeping spells for the people who want to catch some shuteye, a good idea considering that you don’t want to get caught sleeping for longer periods especially when you see one of these things in public. Rather than wait for an alarm clock go off, the Ring Alarm Clock is something worn and uses vibration action to get you up on the right side of bed. The Ring Alarm Clock was designed by Meng Fandi, addressing issues where only the proper person would get up once the time comes. The clock makes use of two rings which will be worn by an individual. The rings vibrate once it is time to get up where the base unit allows users to set the time for the two rings and also juice them up. The Ring Alarm Clock is a neatly designed concept, something that should only wake up the people who need to get up and without posing a nuisance for people who want to get more shuteye even if their mate needs to get up and go. The Sleeptracker Pro Elite Watch costs around $180 and is a great gadget to have over the other ones coming out in the market. It has been around for some years now and has served its purpose. There are other devices such as the Lark, which makes use of a vibrating system to wake you up, and an iPhone app called the Sleep Cycle app to monitor a person’s sleep cycle. However, the Sleeptracker watch is as simple and functional as it gets. It looks like any other watch you may put on your wrist and it does buckle down to work each time you get some shuteye. And with Father’s Day days away, it can be a cool gift to hand out if you have that much dough in your wallet.
Sleep deprivation is obviously a health issue and while many feel that they feel floating due to the lack of shuteye, it does have a say on your appetite and eventual road to obesity if you are not careful. This was of course learned thanks to a study from the Columbia University’s New York Obesity Research Center. Hunger has been identified as an effect of sleep deprivation together with potential consumption of additional calories. Actually, it only solidifies the claim that obesity does have some connections with the sleep problem, leading to a potential causative effect. Women in the study who slept for only four hours ate an average of 329 more calories than when they were allotted nine hours. Men consumed 263 more. The study consisted of 13 male and 13 female volunteers between the ages of 30 and 45. They followed a strict schedule for two 6-day stints, one allowing the longer sleep times and one keeping them slightly sleep-deprived. He is no other than Japanese Spokesman Yukio Edano, a tireless workhorse, relaying every development via Twitter since tragedy came to Japan. Edano’s exhaustion became a cause for concern among many of Japan’s Twitter users who started the hashtag #Edano_Nero (Nero translates to “go to sleep” in Japanese). He is one of the many heroes trying to inform people and perhaps the world on the devastation but just like anyone else, rest is a need. And based on reports, it looks like Edano has taken the call to get some sleep for now. Sleep well “Jack Bauer of Japan” you need it!
Music will always be a great help to make us sleep. We mostly turn to our portable media players for help on this but in case you aren’t at east with them, shift to the big time with these Tornado Music Headboards. These are high-tech headrests that come with two built-in speakers. Rather than confine yourself to earphones, this is an audio system that allows you to plug in your iPod, MP3, television or computer to enjoy a surround-sound theatre experience. Of course this is with the understanding that you would turn to soft music to get some shuteye. If you happen to be a rocker or a person who loves loud music, this is something that will keep you awake and lively rather than rest you up for some good sleep.
While most celebrities are trying to figure out how to manage their time and get some sleep, here is somebody who truly values sleep. Diva Mariah Carey makes sure she gets the proper amount of shuteye to make sure she takes care of her singing voice well.

This was revealed by husband Nick Cannon who on his part is content getting 2 to 4 hours of sleep.

The same holds true for Jennifer Lopez, investing heavily on sleep to make sure she doesn’t lose her voice quality. So for singers out there, sleep and you can bet you will continue singing tunes as well as these two pop stars.

This is thanks to a new research which shows that 20 to 45 minutes of exercise can help you get to “LALA land” faster and safer. Tests on insomnia sufferers found that gentle aerobic exercise cured their condition. They showed that regular aerobic exercise improved the quality of sleep, mood and vitality. The study is said to be the first to examine the effect of aerobic exercise on middle-aged and older adults with a diagnosis of insomnia. And we are not talking just about health concerns but more of a matter of life and death since due to his large frame, he could not get more than 45 minutes of sleep due to the fat that folded around his neck which practically choked him. Seamus Sanders, 47, had to deal with the problem for 6 years of sleepless nights. Only until 2006 when he underwent gastric bypass did was he able to finally get some decent shuteye. Seems like we better watch out weight. There are other problems that may come in the way, choking of which is due to the bulge. Rather than trying to stay awake or making do with the available seats for an uncomfortable sleeping position, the Sleep Box should be a better way to get some shuteye before boarding your plane. Looking similar to a white desktop computer”s tower, people will be able to rent the facility for between 15 minutes and several hours and uses soundproofing to keep the noises of the airport out. When we talk about sleep, it normally pertains to laying down on our favorite bed, comfortable and of course finding the position suitable to get that much needed rest leading to sleep. But for people who want to steal some sleep regardless of position, here is a polyphasic sleep, a practice of sleeping multiple times in a 24-hour period, with the help of this Vertical Bed in a suitcase. Nutty as it may look but if you can steal some minutes deceiving other people then why not? Just make sure you find a suitable place though. The artist who created this concept will tell you that it’s some artsy-fartsy way to make a statement and get yourself some polyphasic sleep, which is the practice of sleeping multiple times in a 24-hour period, but really it’s just an excuse to be lazy whenever and wherever you want. So lazy that you don’t even lay down. In fact, it’s a new epidemic of laziness sweeping the globe.
