Advice to the Sleep Deprived Employee on Shifts
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung August 8th, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, Sleep Business, Sleep Issues.

Traditionally, all employees and workers look forward to the standard 8 to 5 job. With that in mind, you just have to follow the regular sleeping pattern to which most would find their way to bed by 9 in the evening.
But for people who work on changing shifts, adjusting the sleep pattern may not be that easy. For most, drowsiness and that heavy feeling is there especially if you are fresh from a previous work shift schedule.
So what is a person to do. Well for one, you have to get used to it if you are decided to keep that job of yours. The transition is not that easy. Imagine coming of an 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. shift and then working on an 11 p.m. to 8 p.m. shift. You are bound to encounter preliminary headaches and of course sleeping difficulties. But after a couple of days, your body clock will adjust accordingly until perhaps the next shift schedule.
Most people who suffer from this issue come from the call centers and the medical sector. But considering how hard it is today to get a job, they are left with few options. The worst part of it is that this sleep disorder will haunt them for years to come. Being accustomed to such is really something that people have to realize. It just will not go easily compared to how it came.
Finally, you are really just left with two choices:
1. Bear with the job and adjust to the job requirement needs.
2. Consider a career change or look for another similar job that may not be entirely demanding as far as ruining your regular body clock cycle.
The choice is really all up to you.

Sleep HealthCenters Makes House Calls
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung June 24th, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Apnea, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Therapy.

Sleep deprivation has been a growing pain and most people who are aching for alternative remedies and solutions to this growing disorder can heave a big sigh of relief thanks to the Sleep HealthCenters which have opted to take sleep disorder issues to the next level.
Sleep deprivation has been linked to other health issues such as obesity and heart problems and that alone has become a reason to take sleep problems entirely serious. With an elite group of specialists and providing home sleep testing, the sleep deprived can now expect better attention and diagnoses for their lingering obstructive sleeping problems.
Dr. Lawrence J. Epstein, Sleep HealthCenters’ Medical Director, noted, “Home sleep testing is a viable alternative for those patients who have had a comprehensive sleep evaluation and meet certain criteria, including insurance eligibility. Because untreated sleep apnea has been linked to health problems such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease, it is crucial that as many at-risk patients as possible be tested and treated. At Sleep HealthCenters, we continue to focus on providing expertise in every aspect of care for patients with all sleep disorders, from diagnosis, to treatment, to long-term management.”

Unite to Treat Sleep Apnea
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung June 19th, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Apnea, Sleep Events.

Sleep Apnea has been a growing concern today and a lot of people are trying to find ways around it. Indeed, sleep problems are becoming serious and unlike before when making up for lost sleep was an ideal solution, it has all the more gotten worst.
Such has been the call for sleep solutions that have to cater to these growing pains. Sleep apnea is something that should be brought to the attention of sleep specialists and with the efforts of Covidien, bringing together the physicians, patients and the necessary equipment and resources can hopefully address and resolve these sleep disorder issues growing rampant today.
Covidien created the “Unite to Treat Sleep Apnea” initiative in response to the increased demand for sleep apnea treatment. According to the National Institutes of Health, approximately 12 million Americans suffer from sleep apnea, and an additional 10 million remain undiagnosed.
“Undiagnosed and untreated sleep apnea is an urgent issue, as it reduces productivity and shortens life spans. This partnership is designed to help keep drivers in the transportation industry safe by increasing the availability of diagnostic and therapeutic resources,” said Scott Drake, President, Respiratory and Monitoring Solutions, Covidien. “Initiatives like ‘Unite to Treat Sleep Apnea’ are valuable because they further the diagnosis, treatment and compliance of this life-threatening disease.”

Sleep More To Avoid Car Accidents
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung May 27th, 2008 in SLEEP News, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues.

Most drivers today fail to realize the important of good sleep. A lot had to find it the hard way and some have fatally learned their lesson while driving. While we cannot really tell when car accidents may happen, it would be wise to input in our minds one thing; if you feel drowsy or sleepy, avoid driving.
Such has been an issue is now becoming one of the primary concerns of authorities which have noted sleep deprivation as one of the major causes of car accidents today. It is apparent that most people push them to the limit but if it is your life that is in jeopardy, you better consider addressing your sleep problem firsthand.
A driver crashed into the back of another car Sunday after falling asleep behind the wheel.
The man rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of Johnson Street and Main Street around 2 p.m. Sunday. First responders thought the man was injured because he was unresponsive, said Fond du Lac Police Department Capt. Jon Gutzmann. A report on the incident was not complete by press time Monday and Gutzmann did not know the man’s name.
It turned out the 27-year-old man was asleep, Gutzmann said. The man told police he had a sleep disorder and the disorder had resulted in a previous collision.

Yoga For Better Sleep
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung May 2nd, 2008 in How to sleep better, Insomnia, SLEEP Celebrity, SLEEP News, Sleep Cures, Sleep Disorders.

As far as looking for good remedies towards sleep disorders is concerned, people will get a lot of advice on what to do. Relaxation is one thing that many lack and it is apparent that is an active element in making people go to sleep easier.
Just look at Justin Chambers who from a previous post had a serious sleep disorder. We mentioned relaxation as a good tool and Chambers seems to have found that in yoga.
He tells Usmagazine, “I’m doing really good - I’m actually sleeping. I am really enjoying life
“(Bikram Yoga) is where you sit in a 104-degree room, and you stretch for an hour-and-a-half, I swear by it - it’s incredible.”
