Using Sleep Calculators
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung January 25th, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP Psychology.
Can you really use computing to get the proper amount of sleep? Whether you are doing it manually or using this sleep calculator, chances are you are losing sleep regardless of how you look at it. Well some people believe it can be. But you have to consider that sleep should be a natural thing. You cannot use logic to substitute what science deals with regarding sleep issues.
Most people would agree that nothing beats the common belief that sleep should be 6 to 8 hours of our normal body clock. We owe it to ourselves to rest and if we want to lessen health risks and make sure we are always productive, we should consider the fact that sleep is something we cannot compromise with in any degree.

Can You Sleep through Recession?
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung January 24th, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News, SLEEP Psychology, Sleep Business.
If most businessmen and entrepreneurs had a choice, this bad dream of recession that may soon be plaguing the world is a nightmare that they would want to sleep on. A crisis is upon the world and apparently many of these traders and businessmen will have sleepless nights ahead.
Most of them will be counting and computing figures for sure. Money lost is something that will drive anyone crazy. So with all these issues in mind, who can afford to sleep? Knowing these people, they would rather stay up and look for other means of investing their money. It is just an issue that some people will not pass.
Falling stock markets are a lot more bearable if you know what to expect.
So let’s study a little history. Back in early 2001, the markets were in a position similar to the one they’re in now, and a whiff of panic was in the air. Headlines in the Canadian business press back then show it was justified in the short term, because the ensuing bear market was long and severe.
The longer-term view from today makes all the fearful recriminations of early 2001 look almost quaint by their datedness. Here’s one for you: “Research In Motion shares plummet,” from Jan. 3, 2001. A couple of days later: “Research In Motion continues to spiral.”

Clarifying the Sleep Deprivation Issue
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung January 18th, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News, SLEEP Psychology, Sleep Issues.
All of us would be going at anything to uncover the true secret of sleeping better. But while we are inclined towards looking for the scientific aspects included in getting much sought after slumber, perhaps the question that should be asked is does it really need scientific intervention.
Sleep deprivation is known to originate from personal faults or even hereditary capacities. But of the two, it really seems like we are the ones responsible for making sleep an issue.
If this is the case, then we should perhaps change the whole approach of science. They are trying to help sleep deprived people to sleep better and not to find why sleeping is becoming a growing issue among people in the world today.
After a few restless nights, most of us can’t even think straight. We are less able to make sense of problems, make competent moral judgments or retain what we learn, even though studies show our brain cells fire more frenetically to overcome the lack of sleep. Lose too much sleep and we become reckless, emotionally fragile, and more vulnerable to infections and to diabetes, heart disease and obesity, recent research suggests.

Gadgets Contribute to Sleepless Nights
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung January 10th, 2008 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP Psychology, Sleep Disorders.
Apparently, the fascinations of electronics and gadgets today have taken the world by storm. Equipped with advanced features that will certainly take time for a person to get used to, people often spend extended hours that often lead towards sacrificing sleep to get rid of the curiosity that people simply cannot leave out.
So it all boils down to self discipline on how to take into consideration our health as well. We all need to sleep and such instances cannot really be overlooked. A lot of people choose to believe that they can manage themselves when it comes to sleep and maintain the regular sleeping hour habits. However, it is said to note that today, a lot of people have said the same and have found themselves trying to search measures on how to sleep the way they used to.
“It is even more important when away on business that you avoid heavy use of word-related electronic equipment at least one hour before bed to avoid having the next days meeting racing through your head until the early hours.”
Sleep solutions
- Quiet
- Complete darkness
- Cool temperature
- Comfy and clean bed
- Daytime exercise
Avoid
- Electronic device usage 1hr before bed
- Late-night eating
- TV
- Caffeine
- Alcohol

Can You Remember What your Dreamt?
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung January 4th, 2008 in Dreams, SLEEP Psychology, Sleep Education.
Sleeping is one thing but trying to recall what we dreamed about is another. Normally, our sub-conscious self would be forgotten although some people try hard to recall them. Dreams have various meaning to people. Depending on how superstitious you are, dreams can either make a person ecstatic or demoralized. Whatever the case may be, we will have our share of dreams and some people even go to the extent of interpreting them.
Dreams can mean something or nothing. To some people, they stand for something like a symbol of things to come. To others they are callings to which they have to address some things which they deem as unfinished business. But overall there would be people who would just plain forget what they dreamt about.
To classify dreams, we can see them in these categories:
- Guides for believers who want to find out what they mean.
- Dreams are a calling for people who have to accomplish something
- Subconscious thoughts stemming from experience
- No relevance to people who don’t care what dreams they encounter in sleep.
Here is a good sight to visit on Understanding Dreams.
