How to Conclude if an Individual does have Sleep Apnea

Unless there are other means a person has resorted to for them to conclude that they have the dreaded sleep apnea problem, chances are it will all be a matter of psychological proportions.
The only way a person can find out if he is indeed hit with this hated sleep disorder is through consulting a sleep specialist who in turn will endorse patients to a sleep lab for more elaborate testing.
Sleep apnea is not inherited and concluded based on facts alone. It needs some medical support findings as well before its presence is officially concluded.
Why is sleep apnea serious?
Sleep apnea is nothing to be taken lightly. Dr. Steven Moore, director at Sleep Management Institute, explains that sleep apnea can create low oxygen levels and heart-rhythm problems.
“Other symptoms would be the risk of falling asleep while driving or while using heavy equipment,” Moore says. Sleep apnea also has been linked to heart disease and diabetes, and has a weak correlation to strokes.

Poor Academics Result from Poor Sleep
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung September 4th, 2007 in Health Issues, How to sleep better, SLEEP News, SLEEP Psychology, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues.
This may sound like a broken record but again poor observance of the required number of hours of sleep will lead toward deteriorating health bodies as well as poor grades for students who fail to achieve the standard 8 to 10 hours of sleep everyday.
This even usually stems from the fact that some students forego the essence of sleeping, feeling they have enough to spare. While they may be up and about, abusing the needed rest of the human mind may not be all that comforting. The academic performance will show and attest to this once students fail to address the situation, largely due to their self-belief that they want to exhaust their time being awake to the max.

Electronic Gadgets Produce Junk Sleep
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung August 28th, 2007 in Health Issues, SLEEP Gadgets, SLEEP News, SLEEP Psychology, Sleep Disorders.
Call it enthusiasm and excitement whenever a yuppie would get his hands on the latest gizmos or gadgets such as an iPod or a Wii. Sleep will surely be foregone since the important thing above all is to explore extensively these gadgets until they get the hang of it.Hence, “Junk Sleep” is the product of such foregone sleeping patterns. Instead of getting the required 8 hours of sleep, kids ranging between 12 to 16 would usually make do with 4 to 7 hours of sleep, way beyond the necessary respite that bodies and brains would need. The result is of course obvious. Lack of sleep means waking up groggy and having to combine the senses and make sure that they still have sanity and awareness when they are awake.
The Edinburgh Sleep Centre’s Dr Chris Idzikowski warned: “This is an incredibly worrying trend. What we are seeing is the emergence of ‘Junk Sleep’ - that is sleep that is of neither the length nor quality that it should be in order to feed the brain with the rest it needs.
