Sleeping Tips for the Pregnant Moms
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung August 17th, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Issues.
During pregnancy, one discomfort that women may encounter would be the proper sleeping position. Traditionally we would all lay flat on our back to sleep well but with a bulging stomach that limits your bed movement, it would be best to stick to a sideway position that can be pretty much the best position for you and your unborn child.
For the pregnant moms who cannot sleep well, here are some tips offered by the American Pregnancy Association:
Try sleeping on your side — particularly your left side, if it’s comfortable. Bend your knees, and place a pillow between your knees. Also try a pillow under your belly, for support. If heartburn bothers you, prop up your upper body with pillows. If you feel short of breath, lie on your side or propped up with pillows. You should avoid sleeping on your back and on your stomach during pregnancy.

Paci-Plushies Pacifier Holders
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung August 16th, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Apnea, Sleep Disorders.
Here is a good accessory for parents who use pacifiers to calm down their crying babies. The gums of an infant usually become itchy at their age since their teeth are slowly developing. At times, using the standard baby bottles may not always do the trick as their usual step would be to bite off the nipples of their feeding bottle to ooze that itch.
One thing that parents really hate though is having to get up at night to look after their child. Pacifiers are a good recourse but at times, you may find it hard to get up and look for them. The next thing you know, you cannot go back to sleep.
The Paci-Plushies may seem optional but at least it helps lessen the need of most parents to get up and find pacifiers. Further, you can simply reach out for them and then go back to sleep.
Sleep deprived parents of pacifier using tots know how exhausting it is to get up out of bed several times a night in order to replace missing pacifies for a wailing child. Paci-Plushies™, a plush pacifier holder which allows infants and toddlers to easily find a dropped pacifier, is scheduled to launch at the ABC Kids Expo in September, 2008.

Back to School and Regular Sleep Schedules
1 Comment Published by Brian Yalung August 13th, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Disorders, Sleep Issues. The thing about going on vacation is that kids would be prone to doing away with the usual “sleep by this time” schedule set by their folks. This is one reason why most students always look for the summer break since they can practically do anything or stay up late either with friends, playing games or browsing the web.
After a couple of months though, it’s back to the sleep schedule so they will not be late for school. This is easier said than done. For most kids, it is appropriate to condition themselves to recall their sleeping habits since they have to attend school the next day. Outside that of avoiding being late, it is best to go to school with a well-rested body and mind so that lessons to be learned can be grasped better.
This is one reason why when school starts, you can see some kids become lazy to go to school and sit on the old school desks and chairs. Well, give them a couple of weeks and they will surely be back to normal. Just like us, kids have to get used to transition. In this case, school schedules will really force them to do so.
Here are some good sleeping tips to get back your kids on the right track as far as regulating their sleep schedule.

Sleeping Cannot Decide for You
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung August 12th, 2008 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News, SLEEP Psychology, Sleep Education, Sleep Issues.
At times where we find ourselves in the middle of having to make critical decisions concerning work or life, we would often be told to sleep on it. At this state, we can relax our thoughts and gather new ideas, making it all the broader as far as weighing out the pros and cons and that coming up with a final decision.
Many have tried to make judgment when they sleep. Certain factors may come into play when you are unconscious. While it can be a big help, reality has its own share of factors which may not necessarily come up when you sleep. Hence if you want to pass a decision, make sure you are conscious and aware of it.
This is perhaps better than leaving final decisions based on dreams or sub consciousness. In today’s world, reality has to be met with factual moves based on the situation that you may find yourself in.
Unconscious decision-making was thought to be best in certain situations because it is not limited by how much stuff can be shuffled through the mind - a limitation thought to hobble conscious thought. And so, scientists had said the benefits of unconscious thinking are greatest when a decision is complex, with multiple options and attributes.

Dreams Phases to Ponder on
1 Comment Published by Brian Yalung August 10th, 2008 in Dreams, How to sleep better, Sleep Education, Sleep Myths.
When we sleep, we dream of a lot of things. They may not always be immediately associated with what we have just been through. Some of them go as far as our childhood days, reflecting and reminiscing about the past to which some people may find comfort when they sleep.
But there are also dreams that account for current events. Especially when a person is sleeping with something in mind, chances are he will be recalling certain events that have not yet been resolved.
Between the two, a lot can be pointed towards our mental state. Our minds are at work and whatever we have stored there that may be disturbing us will always be the first thing that comes to mind. The reason behind this is that there is a part of our brain that is still conscious. It can be typified to a sort of lack of relaxation to which we tend to address current dilemmas rather than reminisce on the past where we may have a relaxing memory of our good old days.
When we are dreaming, there is a certain part of our mind and being which is aware and conscious, yet some other parts of the brain that are completely at rest. Experts suggest that various types of dreams exist, that range form the dreamer not being in his or her own dream (dreams of childhood) to one where the dreamer is actively reflecting upon the ongoing dream and making deductions and judgments on the events happening in the dream (lucid dreams). This is an interesting lead to the contemplation about the distinction between dreams and reality.
