0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung November 17th, 2007 in How to sleep better, SLEEP News, Sleep Cures.
This is something interesting for all sleep deprived patients out there. Walnuts have been found to help you sleep better. And by all means, it does seem to be effective.
We all know that taking in various food intakes may eventually contribute towards our hard times of being able to sleep and based on a study on walnuts, its monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats have been found to be the healthful properties contributing to allow people to sleep safer.
Walnuts have a number of healthful properties. They contain monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats to help your cholesterol levels. There also seems to be an element of truth to the idea that walnuts can help you go to sleep. Walnuts have a substance similar to the body’s melatonin, which is a hormone involved in inducing and regulating sleep. A “dose” of walnuts could be 4 to 5 halves, equal to about 100 calories. It might be worth 100 calories if it helps you sleep, and it certainly would be a more healthful snack choice than chips, cheese puffs or candy.

Why you should Sleep with the Lights Off
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung November 16th, 2007 in How to sleep better, SLEEP Gadgets, Sleep Issues.
There are people who are afraid of the dark. Many of us restrict them to the kids today, seemingly afraid of fabled stories that include monsters being around once the lights are out. Of course, we all know that this is a sleep myth to get them to go to bed without any complaints.
However, lights provide a hindrance for people who want to sleep better. The rays and the lights that we usually have to deal with once our eyes are shut are distractions. Now for some people who need light to be able to see things when they have to get up at times, a nightlight will often be around and available.
Sleeping better can be done with the lights off. Dim or dark as much as possible is the best way to get a good night’s sleep. For people who need light at night, well, make it as low as possible. You just cannot deal with a small glimpse of light that may eventually become a distraction and a cause for you not to sleep properly.

Sleeping pills have been known to help people sleep better. However, to awaken them from deep slumbers such as being comatose for some years will draw mixed reactions. It can either be hilarious or strange. It may also do harm with regards to the credibility of the sleeping pill called Zolpidem distributed under the Ambien brand.
“When she takes the pill, I see her face relax and the old sparkle return to her eyes,” her mother, Thelma Pickard said. “It’s incredible.”
The woman’s case is described on “The Waking Pill,” a BBC documentary that aired on Wednesday of this week.
She is one of 360 patients around the world in a trial on using zolpidem for coma patients. The pill’s usefulness was first discovered in 1999 when a young South African, Louis Viljoen, who had been comatose for five years, was given a pill and awoke instead of going to sleep…

A Panda To Scare Kids to Sleep?
0 Comments Published by Brian Yalung October 11th, 2007 in How to sleep better, SLEEP Gadgets, SLEEP News.
Now this may sound crazy but I have always known stuffed toys and gadgets to be accessories to help kids and adults sleep better. But with this newly introduced electronic Panda robot, I think it would be more out of fear or worst, make kids not sleep at all!
So it is a high-tech gadget. But for anyone, design and comfort will always be important. Looking at this panda, a supposed stuff toy to scare kids to sleep? They will be most likely terrified to sleep than to sleep soundly. I think modifications are in order for this one.
