Are you a Sleep-Deprived Dad

We have heard of parents being sleep deprived whenever the new born babies comes home. Normally, it would be the mothers who would have to deal with it. But don’t get it wrong, dads have their share of sleeping less to take care of the child.
A lot of this stems from the fact that new fathers are equally excited to take care of their baby as well. While most would disagree, there are also fathers who would want to see to it that all their baby’s needs are met as well. Add to the fact that moms need a break as well. Imagine months of carrying the child and going into labor. If you think of it, mothers need a break too.

What is less understood is how a new baby in the house affects fathers — and a professor at the University of Regina is trying to change that.
“Although we do know a fair bit about what it’s like for moms to become new parents, we don’t know so much what it’s like for dads,” said Lynn Loutzenhiser, head of a study called Mom & Dad Plus One.

This is something interesting for all sleep deprived patients out there. Walnuts have been found to help you sleep better. And by all means, it does seem to be effective.
We all know that taking in various food intakes may eventually contribute towards our hard times of being able to sleep and based on a study on walnuts, its monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats have been found to be the healthful properties contributing to allow people to sleep safer.
Walnuts have a number of healthful properties. They contain monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats to help your cholesterol levels. There also seems to be an element of truth to the idea that walnuts can help you go to sleep. Walnuts have a substance similar to the body’s melatonin, which is a hormone involved in inducing and regulating sleep. A “dose” of walnuts could be 4 to 5 halves, equal to about 100 calories. It might be worth 100 calories if it helps you sleep, and it certainly would be a more healthful snack choice than chips, cheese puffs or candy.

Less Sleep Produces Obese Kids

The lesser you sleep the obese you would get. This kind of sounds contradictory but based on researches and studies made, adults and kids who get less sleep are likely to turn to food to make up for the lost sleeping respite they have passed up.
Sleep deprived people produce more ghrelin, a hormone that promotes hunger and less leptin, a hormone that singals fullness. (Source: Yahoo News).
Now this more than explains why parents should push their kids to sleep early. These are the internal body factors that people do not understand nor see. They operate to make up for lost rest, and the adjustment stage is known to affect the body.
Before we do not know for sure what exactly in our bodies are being affected. With this affirmation coming from the University of Michigan, people will perhaps now be more cautious of the altering effects that may effect kids when they least expect it.

New Zealand Caught In Sleeping Pills Daze

Relying heavily on sleeping pills may be totally the way that most people feel that can address their lack of sleeping habits. According to medical specialists, sleeping pills are not really as effective in helping people gain the necessary sleep to go on with normal lives.
There are far more factors included in the whole sleepless night syndrome. Related health problems such as obesity, diabetes and depression all have their own part towards contributing sleep deprived individuals today.
Sleep experts say pills are not the answer as we try to cram more into our day. And they say unless parents start teaching their teenagers sleep is important, the problem will get worse.
Lack of sleep is linked to obesity, diabetes and depression, and it suppresses the immune system.

Provigil Sleep Drug Warning

Sleeping pills and drugs are obviously the immediate recourse that people are turning to when it comes to trying to solve their sleeping problems. However, while there are recommended sleeping drugs spread anywhere we are, the Food and Drugs Administration board will always be the best organization to refer to when it comes to checking the credibility of such.
Provigil has been found to be harmful rather than helpful for sleep deprived patients. Serious skin problems and psychiatric issues have been found to suffice.
A warning is being added to Cephalon Inc’s (CEPH.O: Quote, Profile, Research) drug Provigil for excessive sleepiness because of the risk of serious skin rash and psychiatric symptoms, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Wednesday.
Provigil is used to treat adults with narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea who have difficulty staying awake. Provigil is one of Cephalon’s biggest-selling products with global sales of $415 million in the first half of 2007.
