Using Infrared to Diagnose Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea, something that has been a bane for most people can only be fully studied and diagnosed using the standard procedure of measuring nasal pressure through sensors placed in the nose. This is entirely uncomfortable and people just have to bear with it to gain the necessary treatment of the said sleep problem.
Today, the use of remote-controlled infrared diagnostic tests provides an alternative and convenient way of diagnosing sleep apnea among sleep deprived patients.
“Polysomnography is a diagnostic test, which establishes the presence or absence of sleep disorders. But standard methods have the potential to significantly disturb a patient’s sleep pattern, so what we see in the lab may not be a true representation of the patient’s sleep habits,” said lead study author Jayasimha Murthy, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, TX. “However, remote infrared imaging is a noncontact method, so there is minimal interference with the patient. In fact, this system can be designed to where the patient isn’t even aware that monitoring is taking place.”

Warm Milk Does Not Make People Sleep Better

Prior to what we have all been oriented ever since, warm milk which was believed to be a good resort for people having a hard time to sleep is not an answer to all the worries of most people. It is more of a psychological factor that has been passed on that has been making most of us believe that it is a good solution to sleep deprived people.
Few foods have a reputation for curing insomnia quite like warm milk.
According to age-old wisdom, milk is chock full of tryptophan, the sleep-inducing amino acid that is also well-known for its presence in another food thought to have sedative effects: turkey.
But whether milk can induce sleep is debatable, and studies suggest that if it does, the effect has little to do with tryptophan. To have any soporific effect, tryptophan has to cross the blood-brain barrier. And in the presence of other amino acids, that is difficult for it to do.

It may sound like a broken record or even an elementary way of taking up health concerns, but again, not getting enough sleep will surely open up the body towards critical openings that will allow diseases and illnesses to set in. Worst, it may even lead to an early funeral for some, leading to a point where people may not have much time finding out what alternative courses of action should be considered to retain overall health.
Surely, this is a metaphor that only the sleep deprived patients can address. It is without question that people need sleep even if they tend to do the unlikely scenarios.

Sleep Phase Alarm Clock

There is a new device in town and it aims to help the people who want to determine the best time to wake up and sleep. It is called the Sleep Phase Alarm Clock, a new gadget that is placed on the wrist of a person which monitors sleeping patterns and supposedly determines the right time to wake you up.Now most people would be relieved by it but the question is, what is the best time to wake up and to sleep? It may address the problem of comfortable sleep, but does it address the problem of insomnia and waking up when needed?
So the question remains, would you leave it up to one gadget to control your sleeping habits? Well all sleep deprived people will try anything for an alternative solution, even if it costs 199 Euros. Just beware of the taxes involved. It may haunt you in your sleep!
