Lack of Sleep

Some may call it weird or others because of their jobs. But there are people who may be awake at times when the rest of the world is sleeping. Why is this so? A lot is caused by the fact that they have to or because they have accustomed themselves to sleep in different time zones. Some relate it to work while others just have difficulty regulating the proper time to sleep.

People are often too proud to acknowledge that they have a sleep disorder. They believe that they can get through it by conditioning themselves to sleep in the right hours of sleeping. But for other people, even if when they are in bed, they cannot immediately sleep. Chances are they have to find a good position to lull themselves to doze off. If that isn’t a sleeping disorder then perhaps all people will be suffering the same thing.

But the thing is we are not professionals who can conclude anything. The need for sleep specialists has to be solicited. Some may have apprehensions but if you truly value sleep, then it would be best to eat our pride and get the help we really need.


How are sleep disorders diagnosed?
If a sleep disorder is suspected, your healthcare provider may refer you to our sleep clinic for an evaluation by our sleep specialists. Our doctors will perform a medical examination, carefully review your medical history, and may order other tests to determine any physical problems that may be causing a sleep disorder. You may also be asked to keep a sleep diary.

Sleep Apnea

Breathing problems were found to become a problem for people who suffer from chronic sleep apnea. Hypercapnia seems to be found in people since most would resort to either curing or dealing with sleep apnea through excessive eating to replace the lost energy due to sleepless nights.

Discovering the high level of carbon dioxide from such sleep apnea problems is only normal. This abnormal sleeping disorder is bound to point towards other areas of health risks such as obesity and such should not be surprising.

(Source) People who suffer from the nighttime breathing disorder known as sleep apnea may develop high levels of carbon dioxide in the blood during the daytime — a condition known as hypercapnia, Japanese researchers have found.

Dr. Koichiro Tatsumi from Chiba University and colleagues studied 1,227 patients with obstructive sleep apnea — a common problem in which people stop breathing for short periods during sleep. It occurs when soft tissues in the back of the throat collapses, temporarily block the airway.

Tests showed that 168 of the patients, or 14 percent, suffered from daytime hypercapnia. These patients weighed significantly more and had worse sleep apnea than patients with normal blood levels of carbon dioxide.

So we all have our share of dealing with Insomnia and wanting to get rid of it. In fact we want to resort to all means to be able to cope up with the sleeping disorder.

We all have to deal with Insomnia. We can turn to pills and medical help to address the situation. However, we are advised to resort to natural means as much as possible. Perhaps we know what to do but are not just looking hard enough.

Sleep Aid Drugs

While most people are content on using sleeping drugs to cure their sleeping disorder, they should not be totally reliant. As a whole, sleep-aid drugs can become serious pains and may even affect the entire body in the very worst way after some time of using them frequently.

It is a given that sleep disorders are something that has been plaguing the world as far as health issues are concerned. However, sleep institutes are still around to help resolve the issue. Medicine and drugs can help but they should not be the only recourse to be counted on.
