New Safe Guidelines for Sleeping Babies and Parents Released

With the growing problem about baby deaths caused by SIDS, new guidelines for baby sleeping and parents as well have been released. After an inquest of 5 baby deaths from July 2007 to November 2008, the conclusion seems to point to suffocation since they were sleeping with their parents.

October is SIDS Awareness Month

SIDS has been known as a key identifier as far as infant deaths are concerned and October has been designated as the month to observe and make people aware of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. SIDS is a case where healthy babies, normally the sleeping children, die with no immediate cause to be found.

Free Safe Sleep Baby Shower for Pregnant Women

Expectant moms who may be giving birth this October or May are in for a freebie of sorts with this invitation to a FREE Safe Sleep baby shower sponsored by the Eastern Virginia Perinatal Council.

Safe Sleep Campaign Launched in Milwaukee

After eight reported infant deaths due to unsafe environment, the city of Milwaukee has decided to start a Safe Sleep Campaign through radio and television ads. The ads are reminders for the elders that proper attention and care should be done for their children. This includes telling parents that babies should sleep in their own crib or bed with no pillows.
