7th Annual Share the Warmth Blanket Drive Underway

Sleep Experts has announced the 7th Share the Warmth Blanket Drive, a program intended to benefit the Genesis Women’s Shelter. Families are asked to drop of new or gently used blankets at any of their 34 store locations from today up to Thanksgiving.

This year’s drive shines the spotlight on teen dating violence, with Highland Park High School and Rockwall-Heath High School joining forces to collect blankets and raise awareness of this type of domestic violence.

In addition to blankets, Sleep Experts accepts donations of other items that provide warmth and comfort for shelter residents, including, sheets, pillows, comforters and towels.

Shipping Delays Could Lead to Extra Bed Shortages

With the Holidays fast approaching, guests and sleepovers are expected to spike up again. And for the hosts who want to make sure that they give their guests proper accommodations, a crisis may arise with the shortage of container ships as stressed by Home and Bedroom.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and normally some homes would have relatives and friends to sleepover. And to make sure that they do get the best sleep accommodations, extra beds can do the trick.

However with shipping companies idling their operations due to the recession, it looks like they have their work cut out for them. With mass purchases for beds expected to spike, delays may eventually cause some inconvenience on their end.

Surging shipments of furniture, electronics and clothes to the U.S. and Europe, coupled with capacity cuts by shipping lines, has caused as much as 15 percent of containers to be delayed in Busan this year. (Bloomberg).

Black Friday Aftermath Leaves a Lot of People Sleeping

If you are reading this now, you may be among the people who have either passed up the wild Black Friday deals or wisely went home early. A lot of people were reported to have camped out and chose to give up sleep just to get a chance at the crazy discounts and price offs offered by various retailers, a timely event considering that Thanksgiving just passed. For sure many are still asleep and trying to recover but you can be sure that a lot of them may have found the event worth every second.

The coming season is expected to produce lesser sleep for people as parties and events are sure to escalate for the Christmas season. And with that in mind, you can be that Thanksgiving, Black Friday and the coming Cyber Monday are feelers that the “Sleep-Less” season is here. Just don’t overdo it ok!
