Having a nightlight by your nursery should be a good idea so that parents can easily check on their babies in the wee hours and when all the lights are turned off. But if you want to be a little bit eco-friendly about it, the Modern Treetop Baby’s wooden bird house night lights should be a good enhancer, safe and non-toxic to have to keep your baby in sight. The Modern Treetop Baby’s wooden bird house night lights are made from handcrafted and natural Japanese Kiri wood. They are hand-painted to offer a safe additional element to nurseries, ensuring that your toddlers can be easily attended too when the need arises. And of course, having this night light is a great idea for babies and/or kids who are normally known to be afraid of the dark.
For some folks, turning off the light helps in putting their toddlers to sleep. But the problem perhaps lies in instances where the baby would cry in the dark, sometimes even when the parents are in deep trance. However thanks to technology, here is something that may help. This is the Voice Activated Crib Light with Womb Sounds, an advanced gadget which you can easily attach to your baby’s crib and at the same time soothe or attend to your child temporarily. Three colored lights turn on when your baby cries, beginning a cycle that follows a certain calming pattern. It also features some recorded womb sounds that can lull your child back to sleep and a 10 minute slight/sound period to bring them back to dreamland. The device requires 4 AA batteries to run and is available from Thinkgeek for about $15. Unlike other solutions which require people to buy separate hardware leading to more costs, people can simply use their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to put this solution to work. The Evoz Baby Monitoring solution is set to come out this October 4, a reasonable solution for parents who want to keep track of their toddlers. The whole thing runs on iOS using WiFi and cellular connections and keeps track of a baby’s sleeping and crying patterns. The system includes an online interface, mobile app and the optional Evoz baby monitor and the monitor costs $120. Parents get access to 30 minutes per day of free listening or $3.99 per month for unlimited listening. There is also a package deal that includes unlimited listening, the monitor, alerts and dashboard access is $160 for 6 months.
Here is an issue that should be a bit controversial. While parents are being advised to have their kids lie on their back to avoid cot death, it seems that the same has become the prime reason why some toddlers are getting flat heads. As per US researchers, the number of babies with flat heads have increased between 1999 to 2007 which is something similar that UK people have reported. And while the flat head issue does seem harmless, experts do say that it could lead to parents anxiety and distress. However, it was also stated that after some months, the heads will round itself naturally. Also, the high prevalence they observed might be largely due to the recent increased availability of such treatments for flattened head and the readiness of insurance companies to pay for them as per the experts who carried out the study. If your kids aren’t fine with the standard alarm clocks we have to date, then a virtual time teller might do the trick. And rather than get an alarm clock that only wakes them up, the Zazoo Photo Clock can even lull your toddlers for you. The Zazoo Photo Clock is a visual time-teller that teaches young kids through images when it’s time to get up. When the night falls, a starry night image sets the mood for sleeping; when it’s time to get out of bed, the sunny day scene appears. The Zazoo Photo Clock also comes with other features that include a calendar, rotating digital photo frame and even an MP3 player. A great device for kids and who knows, maybe adults would want it too.
If you think snoring is limited to the elderly then guess again. The same issue may yet be crucial for your little ones, a sign which may need some addressing. A Finnish research bares that snoring among children could lead to depression and anxiety which could eventually lead to attention and language problems for your child’s development. A study conducted from among 99 preschoolers showed that, 43 were who snored showed a higher rate of mood problems. Brain function tests also bared differences in snorers and non-snorers, including decreased attention and language skills among children who snored. Snoring is a common symptom of sleep-disordered breathing, which is caused by obstruction of the upper airway during sleep. Knowing the mental health and developmental impact of sleep-disordered breathing in preschool-aged children will help pediatricians and other health care professionals recognize the underlying sleep problem. However, kids will have to get to that age where they should be responsible enough to get up on their own and perhaps this nightlight solution can help. Good Nite Lite offers is a behavioral modification device equipped with LED light that turns into a glowing yellow sun’s face when it’s time to wake up and a moon’s blue face when it’s time to sleep.
Kids will have trouble sleeping and waking up and other than the usual human intervention, parents can only do so much at a certain point.

The device has a programmable timer, and the light dims while the child is sleeping and turns off during the day.

It is said to be priced at $35 at their website but will only be available by next month.

When it comes to getting the right quality of sleep for toddlers, it all boils down to how you lay down and of course which stuff you have lying around. But thanks to the efforts of groups like Cloud B which has worked in hand with pediatricians and specialists on the issue of sleeping, some new products to aid sleep were developed to help promote a safe, sound and healthy sleep for children, and subsequently their parents. Leading the pack is a Twilight Sea Turtle, it not only provides people lights, sounds and smell but a reminder as well towards the endangered animals. So as a whole, it is a combination of putting together eco-friendly issues and getting the healthy sleep that kids and parents both need today. Other items that are (or will be) available include the Polar Bear Cub, the Dozy Dolphin, and Penguin, all of which use some combination of soy-based and/or bamboo fabrics and hypo-allergenic stuffing.
As far as babies are concerned, many of us may perhaps have noticed that they sleep for most parts of their days. But the real question here is the time to which they will be sleeping. Apparently, for most new parents, this is something that they are unaware of. For the seasoned parents, it means that they will have to adjust accordingly to how their children would sleep. It also means that they should be open to some sleep disorders ahead. But rather than sulking in agony, there are new practices to help regulate a baby’s sleeping cycle. The answer? Teach them to sleep on their own. It is called sleep training by some but if you know your way on how to be a parent, it is something you should check out. For some parents, it may be hard. But just take it as a challenge in itself. Outside sleeping, it’s a form of teaching kids on how to be independent at their primal age. No one said it would be easy but if you master it, you will be surprised at other things that your child will learn later on.
As parents, we will find ourselves blowing our tops on our kids at times because of a mischief now and then. While we all know that we scold or shout at them to let them know that they did something wrong, it would be likewise wise to analyze how we go about it. Toddlers are in their developmental stage and it is only normal to find them groping for form as far as trying to figure out why “Mom is mad at me”. This can go as far as affecting their sleeping schedule since areas of fear or misconceptions are sure to arise. The next time you try to stress a point, do broaden your line of thinking. You should know better on what your child needs to get the proper sleeping habits they have. A pediatrician from Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital has crunched data from 4600 families to analyse whether the parenting method has any effect on sleep behaviour of children between the ages of one and three.
