While a lot of people don’t really have the luxury of sleep over in the disaster-hit Japan, there is one person being urged to get some shuteye. He is no other than Japanese Spokesman Yukio Edano, a tireless workhorse, relaying every development via Twitter since tragedy came to Japan. Edano’s exhaustion became a cause for concern among many of Japan’s Twitter users who started the hashtag #Edano_Nero (Nero translates to “go to sleep” in Japanese). He is one of the many heroes trying to inform people and perhaps the world on the devastation but just like anyone else, rest is a need. And based on reports, it looks like Edano has taken the call to get some sleep for now. Sleep well “Jack Bauer of Japan” you need it!
By now, it is apparent that the tragedy that has struck Chengdu, China is known globally. A lot of people lost their homes and many have perished. While most survivors are now thankful that they have lived through such a nightmarish debacle, the fact remains the large damage has been done. Now that most homes are in rubble, you have to consider how people can rest and sleep with most of their homes shattered and the aftershocks occurring at unexpected moments. In short, who can sleep after such a tragic quake would hit your silent country that is already progressing? One thing that is sure, you may see a lot of these Chinese people sleeping on the streets. No homes and nowhere else to go. But sleep is something that they have to get even if it means only a couple of hours to refresh themselves from such an unfortunate calamity. Ma Yuanjiang, 31, a power plant executive, spoke after he was rescued, but his body was “as fragile as that of a newborn baby,” Chongqing Xinqiao hospital president Wang Weidong said. “The next 12 hours are crucial for Ma’s survival. Ma Yuanjiang, 31, a power plant executive, spoke after he was rescued, but his body was “as fragile as that of a newborn baby,” Chongqing Xinqiao hospital president Wang Weidong said.

“The next 12 hours are crucial for Ma’s survival. The patient finished the first half of a life miracle, now we are trying to do the second,” Xinhua quoted Wang as saying.

His rescue came as authorities tried to restore calm in the provincial capital, Chengdu, after tens of thousands rushed into the streets overnight alarmed by a television prediction of another powerful earthquake.

But as darkness fell over Chengdu on Tuesday thousands of residents prepared makeshift shelters to sleep outside, too afraid to stay overnight in their homes.
