Nap a bit to Boost Brain Activity

Here is another study that should let you know why naps shouldn’t be overlooked. The study was conducted at the University of California which found that sleeping before learning something is just as important as sleeping for about 100 minutes.

In a study done on 44 volunteers, study co-author Matthew Walker, explained that the volunteers who took a nap before undergoing a memorization test ended up with higher test points than their counterparts who did not take a nap.

Not Sleeping is not a great Weight Loss Solution

For some people, staying awake at night seems to be a great way to lose some fat but this is by far not the best weight-loss solution you can consider. A body can reportedly burn about 161 calories for people who pass on sleep but is not a great weigh-reducing solution. The body tries to make up for the deficit by saving more energy than usual the next day and night according to the Journal of Psychology.

It seems that sleep loss is more serious that we thought. While we all know that chronic sleep loss does affect the memory, it seems that reflex action and other brain function can severely be affected as well. A study over at the Harvard Medical School can attest to that when they put nine volunteers on a specialized sleep-wake schedule made of 33 hours of wakefulness and 10 hours of sleep.
