Sleeping disorders among kids seems to be rampantly growing and while parents exhaust all means by scolding them or even resorting to tactics like warm milk or implementing a strict monitoring to regulate their sleep patterns, parents may want to consider counseling as well. This was of course a result of a study that was conducted, which went as far as improving the academics of kids all thanks to better sleep. Parents may be too proud to seek professional help but sleep-related problems among kids is now pretty much common. Quach and his colleagues surveyed about 1,500 parents of kids starting at 22 different elementary schools in Melbourne. Of these parents, 161 said their child had a moderate or severe sleeping problem and 108 were recruited for the study. Kids with more serious sleep-related breathing problems, for instance, were excluded. This and of course some of the distractions like games or even gadgets could spell a big difference as far as helping kids sleep better. Also, it could help them lead healthier lives and perform better in school.
For parents, the hardest part about disciplining their kids is to revert to the proper sleeping habits especially when school time comes in. Summer allows kids to sleep as late as they can but once the school calendar sinks in, a lot of limitations and restrictions must be enforced by guardians and parents to make sure that they are fit and prim for the next day to school. It is a matter of adjustments for the kids. This all starts from doing their homework at the right time and having dinner at the proper time for eating. The sequence should be made in a way to where kids will benefit and be at ease with, something that is bound to be hard to do at first. There are of course cases where you have to do your part as a parent to help them sleep. Some use warm milk while others tell stories. TV is a no-no, same with the use of gadgets. While some parents ban the watching of TV back in the days, such a practice could really be something useful to regulate a child’s sleeping patterns.
